As much fun as it is getting older lol, I've been embracing the nostalgia that sets in during your 30s. This past summer alone I caught shows from such '90s luminaries as Smashing Pumpkins, Marilyn Manson, Refused, Faith No More, Failure and Deftones. Good times all around.
(I just wish they'd played this together in Toronto)
A lot of bands have been doing anniversary tours lately as well. I've yet to catch Weezer performing the Blue album but I have seen a few classic album tours this past year (Helmet, Coheed and Cambria, Motion City Soundtrack). These were some of my favourite shows so hopefully bands will continue to jump onto this particular bandwagon.
There seems to be a grunge revival happening at the moment too which I'm all for. Gotta love the plaid :)
Even emo music is having a resurgence it appears. Everything old is new again!
I wasn't really into emo the first time around but it seems to speak to me now. I'm not sure how to feel about that lol.
Last week I went to see three relatively new bands, The Story So Far, Basement and Turnover, at the Phoenix and it really was a pop-punk/grunge/emo revival all in one night. The show was great but somehow it made me feel both old and young again at the same time :D.
