Fallen Wings (Chapter VII) No Way!!!
"What did he say?" Asked Dennis. " Did he say Angel, who is that?"
"I don't think it is a who." Said Jennifer. "Remember I told you I saw an angel flying around the neighborhood at night."
"Your crazy, and mom told you to stop taking about that anyways. She said it was just crazy talk and your imagination." Said Dennis
"It's true, I saw it." Shouted Jennifer.
"Come on guys, stop he bickering, Paul is finally coming around." Said John with a look of real concern on his face now.
Paul was sitting up now drinking water from Jennifer's canteen. He only said one thing so far. He gulped the water greedily like he had never had a drink before.
" Slow down Paul, talk to us man we need to know what happened?" I asked.
He put the canteen down and just starred for a few seconds. Then he looked around and up in the sky, like there should have been something there.
"An angel picked me up and flew me here, I saw you guys walking towards the bush where I was hiding. I was right above you, but I couldn't say anything, I tried but I couldn't say anything at all." Said Paul.
"What do you mean an angel, that is impossible?" Asked Rusty. "There are no angels around, we only came out here to see a big bird, John is leading us on a big giant goose chase, and that is all that we are going to find, a big giant goose."
Rusty looked real nervous like he didn't even believe what he ws saying himself, sweat was pouring off of him as well as the rest of us. It could have been from running over to get to Paul, but somehow I felt my own nerves rising up and pricking my neck.
"NO, it was an angel. I saw her she stood in front of me when she put me down. She was pretty with red curly hair." Said Paul. "She was wearing a long black dress that was all frilly and lacey, kind of like what a beauty queen wears or a princess. She said her name was Emelia and that she was here to help."
* * *
"Has he lost his mind?" Asked Joe. " Angel, named Emelia. I think he just bumped his head on a tree limb and then wandered his way over here."
"I am lost on this one, Joe, I wish I had a good answer." Said John. " I don't know if he is lying or not, all I know is that Old Man Parkins told me there was a strange creature and that their were large wings that looked like the belonged to an angel back near the quarry. I thought it would be fun to go on an adventure and find an ald barn owl dead on the ground."
"What do you do know, do we head back or do we keep on to the quarry?" I asked John. "Paul looks ok to me, it only looks like he passed out or something. He doesn't have any bumps or knots on his head."
" I think we will leave it up to Paul, after all he is the one that was laying here on the ground." Said John.
* * *
"She just landed with me in her arms and her wings wrapped around me, they were so soft." Paul continued on with his story of the angel flying him to where he now was.
"Paul, do you want to go back to camp?" John asked. "Cause I think that might be a good idea since you were out cold when we got here."
"NO, I want to go find the wings and the angel, it might be her I need to see her again and..." Paul just trailed off there. He got up and started walking in the direction of the quarry.
" I guess we got our answer." Said John. "Looks like the adventure continues."
" Yeah, but now I am actually worried about what we are going to find out there." I said. "Will it be an old barn owl or something else?"
"Isn't that why we do this?" Asked John with a sly grin on his face. "The thrill we get when we are nearly in alot of trouble?"
"What did he say?" Asked Dennis. " Did he say Angel, who is that?"
