Good to have those musings,
especially from another guy.

i'd like to build with the sg's this
bringing back a new punk burlesque
movement,
as I can seldom can find porn which
I don't find degrading,
and I hung out with the great gang
at the old Mitchell Brothers for years.

But I dig them dancing, and asking for tips.
And I tip, and always send flowers.

And then there are those real moments
when you glimpse somebody really interesting
is inside this particular sexy model
I wonder who she actually is?

That's the kind of save environment I am
trying to create both for those people, and me.

Everybody I list as a friend holds for me that
glimpse, and so of us are now on a real name,
stop by and let's have a beer if you are in town.
I am a step or two even beyond that with two
women here, but we will keep learning as we go
on.

Someday, probably that day when we get to
have our beer, I'd love to talk more to you about
your work. I would suggest you look into archiving some of the people I feature in my
THE NEW SMITHSONIAN BOOK OF COMIC
BOOK STORIES. I think the future is only going to bring some of these guys greater and
greater literary recognition. I was so thrilled
when a chapter from our edition of Paul Auster's
City of Glass; a story by Lynda Barry; and something from Maus became the first three
comic book works to be included in the Norton
Book of the best of Post Modern Fiction. It's
one of the truly fun things working in this field.
It's like playing for the Boston Red Sox, and just
knowing your day really is coming soon.

All the best, Drago

Now that I'm back on top of things at work, my Amsterdam-mania seems to have settled down to a more reasonable level as well.

I've spent a lot of time looking at this web site:

AXXXTW

It's a really well-done guide to sex and drugs and Amsterdam in general. Parts of it are hilarious.

I also started reading two really good books about the city....

Should be a fun trip... Two friends of mine will actually be in Amsterdam for the upcoming semester, and they're both really excited for it. In fact, maybe I'll pass on to them the website you link to.

Funny you should mention the torture exhibition in Sienna, because when I was there I passed by it. A "torture museum" I think, featuring a skeleton in a body-shaped cage at the entrance, if I remember correctly. I was with little sisters and a mom and what-not, and thus ended up not actually going in, but it looked so interesting.

Anyway, thanks for the comment on my journal.

Burnout on re-entry.

The first day back at work is always the most painful, so I should just get over myself and not let it all bring me down.

The good news is that two weeks from today I will be cavorting in Amsterdam with my bestest friend.

Keep those eyes on the prize.

The prize being space cake and beer.

One of the girls in my lab is very similar to the one whom you described to me. She says that she doesn't find animals cute at all. Essentially, she relates, she doesn't feel anything about killing them because she just thinks they are gross little critters. I have remarked upon this several times to her - she who was not allowed to have pets as a child.

Hung over in my Chicago hotel room this morning. I'm blowing off my official library business to suffer silently and pray for the baby Jesus to deliver me from this agony.

But I'm also in that weird hangover zone where I have a lot of energy--if I had someone here to talk to I'd be babbling my head off. I want to clean the whole...

And I'm sitting, sitting on the top of the stairs,
and you're crying out on the towpath by the river
with all the swans and all the people walking by.

And all of a sudden I'm stuck with an urge to unlock a door
with a key that's too big for my hands
and I drop it, and it falls at your feet.

Come on,...

My travels have been fun so far--it was weird leaving NY so early that there was hardly any traffic. Then the airport seemed abandoned and my flight to St. Louis was almost empty. Seriously, there were maybe 25-30 people on a plane built for closer to 150-200 people.

I rode the metrolink into town and I was all alone for much of the ride. Then...

Hi

Yep that's me.

SG is an amazing place. I don't think the
world has had one like this before.

Posh is gorgeous. She sends me her journals,
but I can't say I know her at all.

What do we know about MODERN ARF?

I gotta believe it's Spiegelman under another
name. Send me your email, and I can pass
on some links you might enjoy.

All the best, Bob Callahan

PS: Drago is the main character from
THE DARK HOTEL, the serial I did with
SPAIN for Salon.Com for a couple of years.

YES!

I see visions of latex sheets and slippery, tasty oil.
Bodies in latex entwined and wrestling.

Loser gets to drink from a dog bowl with a heel in his back.

Down boy!

Maybe it was the shitty shitty weather last night, but Flesh Theater was a big disappointment. And me in my shiny new shirt and everything.

I got to the club around 12:30 or so and had a seat at the bar. There were a lot of people in black, but hardly anyone else in anything actually fetishy. I mean, this is New York--half the city...

What? No Gender bending, delicious androgynous hotties wearing rubber gear?
This cannot be!!!!!

No pony girls in cages hanging from the ceiling that you can whip or smack on the ass to your heart's content?

What the fuck?
