Went to the Valerie Steele lecture on the history of the corset at the Goethe-Institut last week. She was great and had some excellent slides that showed the whole range of corsets from the Renaissance on down. I've got to check out her book on fetish fashion (Fetish : fashion, sex, and power. Oxford UP, 1996).
Had a pretty fantastic 4 day weekend--an early blast of summer in the city. A fine excursion to the Dia arts center in Beacon on Friday, a rather debauched picnic in the country on Sunday.
One of the best things about New York is leaving New York. Then there's the coming home which is also pretty good.
