I'm in the middle of kludging together some rearsets for my twenty five year old KZ 750. I got a shifter linkage from a ZX6 and figured out a way to flip my peg mounts around backwards and move the pegs rearward about 7 inches. I had to cut about an inch out of the linkage tie rod and got that welded back together today....

The new bike seems very user friendly compared to the other one, although with being limited to 7,000 rpm for the running-in period (red line at 13,750) I haven't fully tested it out, of course. Although there's more power on tap there's also less torque and less mid-range, which in this instance is probably a good thing, making the bike a good bit more managable, and easier to keep the front hoop on the tarmac - always a bonus i think! Handling feels nice and neutral and the fuel-injection makes the throttle control very smooth, as mentioned, suprisingly easy to pootle about on. Looking forward to getting it on a circuit later this year though. And breaking some speed limits in France, of course...
Good observation on the metric/imperial thing. As usual, the UK is lagging behind the rest of Europe, so we still have Pounds in our pockets rather than Euros, and still use miles rather than kilometers. It's a good excuse when on the continent though, "Ah, but monsiuer gendarme, zee speed leemit ees one-hundred thirty, no?"

Thanks, Guzzi was named after the 73 Moto Guzzi Eldrado I owned when I got her. I'm afraid it's going to be a while before I get another bike. It just isn't in the budget. Maybe I should get a room mate just so I can afford more toys.
