Early this morning I had an amazing talk with my dad. I was walking around the house and saw him sitting in the dark, he was trying to hold back everything he was feeling. We talked about loss & grief. In my life i've only seen my father cry 3 times. The first time was at my grandmother's funeral. The second time was when I lost my son and daughter. The third time was today. He had held it all back because he knew I was already sad and didn't want me to worry about him, but as soon as I gave him a hug he couldn't help himself. By the end though he had the biggest smile on his face, probably the biggest i've seen in 10 years. He said to me that if it weren't for me always being by his side through the years that never would have made it. My father has always been my hero, role model, and goal. I want to be just like him, but tonight he just raised that bar even higher.
