back in philadelphia for the night. i will sleep in my sister's bed, because she left on saturday for college. my mother has been in and out of the hospital all summer but it is only today that i can see how desperately she would like to be somehow different that who she is, than the body she is in that is failing her. outside the trains go by, empty trains at this time of night, lonely meanderings into downtown. i will be glad when it is morning.
