Ok- lets go over the facts once more:
Its Friday. Thats good- weekend n stuff. New girl on SG! Thats always cool! What else- oh, the apt. painting is coming along nicely, new roommates are totally cool. Discovered strong-bad yesterday- that ones awesome- no doubt. I got me a Tropicana Orange Juice! Nice and cold too!
I do feel kinda brain-dead and a little weak- well thats understood after being sick for a week. I cant wait to get back to the gym- get some sweat and endorphins happening. I wish I had something deep to say right now.
For now, well have to settle for our top-5 list of the day.
Now- this is a very important list, one that deserves the utmost attention. Its a list of the 5 drummers who are responsible directly for my sound today. Will this be interesting to the general public? Not necessarily, but I have to get it out of my system. So- here goes:
1. Pierre Morlen- French-cat, leader of Gong, played with Mike Oldfield at the 1980 Knebwerth festival. I have this show on video and have been watching it for the last 15 years. No shit. Im totally in love with the guys playing- so tasty!
2. Stuart Copeland- Police and soundtrack composer. Check out his score to:Rumble Fish its magical.
3. Bob Moses- Master Drummer and Free spirit, albeit being an extremely grouchy old fart. Heard him play a few times- The guy has the strength of a Voodoo priest.
4. Liam Howlett- The Prodigy himself. Not a drummer per se- but his programmed beats are mind blowing.
5. Various African and afro-Caribbean Percussion Groups- well, they HAVE started it all
Honorable Mentions-Phil Collins (he IS a kickass drummer you know...), Mike Bordin from Faith No More, Rick Marotta- NY studio ace, the guy from the beastie boys, Mamati Keita- Djembe Master, Giovanny Hidalgo, Patato Valdez and Mongo Santamaria- Conga Stars, Chad Smith of the chilly peppers, Jungle Programmers, 80's pop drummers, old Stax and Motown cats who played all of those sampled hip-hop beats, my percussionist and funk-soul brother Idan, Calvin Weston and Billy Martin when they played with John Lurie, My Mother- it was her idea that i should start playing drums when i was 11.
Ok- that being out of my system, I would like to hear something about yous people. Whatever you feel like writing.

anywho, i won't try to recreate that last one. i'll simplify and summarize ...like eddie says, i'm still alive ....no new animal friend --think the reduction in responsibility is good for now... not sure where i've been or what i've been doing (that's oregon's willamette valley winters for ya ...so grey ya don't know what the hell is going on and yer melatonin is always floating around even in the middle of the day)
I'm heading back home to colorado in a few weeks for a short run through my ol' stomping grounds. should be cool.

stuart copeland is a cool ass drummer ...i'm no drummer expert, but he always had some deep groove going in his style ...fascinating to watch.
