My branch manager had a meeting with the head of our library system. The city of San Diego is short $90 million dollars for the upcoming fiscal year. The state budget crisis is much worse than the public realizes. The bottom line is that I'm very li8kely to lose my job or at least suffer major demotion and loss of benefits. I have a kid...

Another stolen moment from work to write something on SG. It's hard to belive how involed with this place I've become, I've only been here three months and its become this major part of my life. It's easy say "I'ts only a Web site." But I've been around the Web and seen the kind of people that fill most of it. By and large people...

I was never and i mean never an online joiner until SG... what was the difference... for me it represented a community of like minded folks despite age and background. Would i join any other one... nope!
googused:
Hah! That's funny! Those guys were dicks. The only one I still speak to is Dave Dubiner. I never got into the scooter boy aspect either. The SF scene was alot more fun, but that whole skin/rude boy idiot bullshit drove me away. We've probably met somewhere over the years -I wonder if you were at a show/rally around 1985 in San Diego. I had a band called Wally Danger. I think it was us and the Deadbeats and The Birminghams. It was a big SD event, if I recall correctly. The place was packed.

A couple months ago I wrote my first attempt at erotic fiction. I haven't been sure what to do with it. It came out too arty for literotica and porny for scarlett letters. Plus like any writer trying a new genre I don't know if it's any good. Well, I figured I let you decide. Keep in mind that this is FICTION.

I've taken...

this is only your first attempt too... I am impressed! There is a market for this kind of creativity, I have a copy of the writers handbook and there are a number of places that would accempt erotic short stories... ah, I am tired...

Wow. That was amazing.

Yesterday I bounced back up to 170 lb. I was very unhappy about seeing that 7 again. This morning I weighed in 167.5. I know that weight can fluctuate within 24 hours but Ive never seen my body do 2 lbs. in one day. Im a boy; I dont have a period, so I have no clear explanation.

This started me thinking about how we...

Okay... this was all very zen!

a couple of pounds in one day is no big deal... even for a guy!

to help... the EMO label basically came about how cherry said in her post. but if you want the archetypical band, the ones who started the whole thing... just get one record from dischord label, a band from ian mackeye (fugazi, minor threat, etc)

the band and the self titled album is EMBRACE. an amazing album and a way to truly know what emo is and where it was born from.

Went to Silver Dragon. Drank with tat2fiend. Had fun. Have headache. Must work. Must return to diet. At least my leather jacket fits again that's cool.

the no carb diets are the best..... i lost 25 pounds and have kept it off with limited carbs.
greyshadow:
Very low carb, high fiber, low fat is what I'm doing. Its been working too but I got sloppy and also hit one of those nasty set points. I think, considering that absolutly nothing on you jiggles except what is suposed too, I'll take your advice and cut out all carbs for a while.

Another cocktail I miss:

The Rob Roy aka The Scotch Manhattan Perfect:

2 jiggers of Scotch (most single malts have too much character for cocktails so use a blend. I like Dewers.

1/2 jigger of sweet vermouth

1/2 jigger of dry vermouth

The traditional garnish is a stem cherry. Sometimes I like a sweet pickled onion.

Current wieght 171 and falling.
tommysativa:
heya grey ...glad you dig the group. I had some major reservations starting the thing along (mostly of the sort you mentioned), but then I made the leap. I suspect that missy, spooky n crew had to mull it over for a while ---seems like there was quite a wait before it was activated. As you can see from the response, I'm glad I did it ...it was something I felt wasn't talked about, but there was a need to connect with others and share our experiences ...raising kids outside the mainstream can often be daunting, if not scary. I still get a little weirded by the thoughts of freaky old felchers checking out pix of my kids, but they could just as easily be checking them out when we walk around town ...bottom line: I try not to let the fear thing dominate --the majority of people on SG are truly righteous and incredible people.

from your pic, you could pass as Tim Robbins' brother.

Yep, I'm part of the late winter diet posse. I was at 175 lbs and I shot up to 181 after the holidays. I've gotten down to 173.5 as of this morning so I've gotten past my set point. I'm trying to reach 160 which will let me fit my old made to measure shirts which are all very tapered at the waist. I don't...

that is odd that you are a librarian, as that is one of the occupations I am considering. I am a late bloomer with the school thing so I am just working on my BA right now. I am majoring in woman's studies now, when I am done I can start librarian information sciences.... alternately, if I don't go that route then I will go into art therapy.

A couple nights ago I heard a description of the US strategy for attacking Iraq. It involves a missile and air strike against Baghdad several times greater than previous Gulf war. The White House boasted no part of the Baghdad will be safe. I looked up the population of Baghdad today. 3.9 million people live there. 3.9 million doctors, lawyers restaurant owners, plumbers shop clerks,...

I'm working on the final budget analysis for a federal grant proposal. Its to fund the automation of a library and the convertion of all its cataloging and indexing to electronic format. Its all very technical and professional and tens of thousands of dollars are involved. It makes me feel very middle-aged and responsible. That scares the shit out of me. Three years ago I...

Once a deviant, Intellectual freak, always a deviant intellectual freak. Now, if you where ONLY deviant or ONLY intellectual or ONLY a freak, there might be a chance of one day waking up and finding yourself normal, it could manifest in many ways, the most common being: Finding yourself staring at the television, nodding at commercials. But since you are blessed with all three traits, I think you are safe. (its okay to pretend at normality in order to survive.)

I've been dragging around my life with a sinus infection for something like six weeks. I'm on the second round of the second type of antibiotics I've been perscribed for this trip to nasal hell and I'm finally starting to feel healthy again. It's been so long that semi-health is like this weird sensation. We take it for granted most of the time but I...

Sinus infections seem to be taking over the planet. Maybe there is some new epidemic of sorts.

I get them all the time unfortunately. About as often as I got swimmer's ear during swim team.
lunabelle:
you're right about us taking our health for granted. funny how it takes getting sick for us to remember ourselves. I have always thought, since I was a kid, about how being sick can be a small blessing. I serves as a reminder of what our bodies can be when they are well. (I'm not saying you should be glad you are sick, It sounds as if you have been through hell) I'm glad to hear you are fealing a bit better. Do take care. Two runs of Antibiotics can really hurt your immune system and upset the balance of your body.

Winter in general depresses me. (not just January) actually to be honest I'm a serious grinch and hate Christmas. Christmas, traffic, and over-consumption depresses me. There are things I love about winter and sometimes the cool air, the naked trees, the white sky, make me love the winter. But in general it feels like it's morning all day long and I don't want to get out of bed.

Thank you for the kind words.

It's 5 am. I am the victim of a drug comapany's marketing department. I used to get Claritin on perscription but now its over the counter. The package now said "non drowsy." I thought they were pointing out that it didn't wipe you out the way Benadryl does. No! They put psuedoephidrine in these things. I've been taking speed before bed for a week! I...

I'ts the day of new years eve. I subbing in a branch library I don't normally work at so I don't have any projects to do. There are very few patrons. We're totally overstaffed. Bored?
