It seems that every time I turn around, there is yet another NutJob proposal for a Constitutional Amendment to ban some activity (Flag Burning, Abortion, Gay Marriage, Teaching Evolution, _____________, etc.) or promote some other activity (Flag Waving, Parental Notification, Straight Monogamy, Teaching Creationism, _____________,).

Typically, the arguments against these amendments have been calm and thoughtful, asserting that the activity in question is no real...

I've been noting with interest how the most successful active motorcycle roadracer is getting his engineers to make the front end more laterally flexible than it was prior to his riding that brand of bike. After decades of making everything stiffer it takes Rossi to get the Ducati techs to make the bike more rider friendly and forget what the theories are so sure of. Do you follow racing at all?

MotoGP testing starts soon and it's the first time that the prototypes will be going wheel to wheel with more pedestrian engined (and engineered) chassis bikes that are part of a new sub-class. Could be interesting. Or not.

Well, I finally went to see a doctor, and I am happy to report that after 39 years of smoking, I do not have cancer or emphysema, nor have I caught tuberculosis from living in the barrio for 10 years. I had intended to quit smoking somehow, someday, and the month-long + respiratory illness helped me along. On the second day, I was hacking so...

The air conditioning finally got fixed toward the end of September. I usually only run it in the late afternoon and evening when the heat is at its worst. Even this late in the year, if I forget to switch it on the temperature in my room will easily climb to 80 F. by 10:00 PM.

I'm at the tail end of one of the...

The air conditioning in my room has broken down again. Right now the temperature is 90 F and climbing. Things could be worse, last year the breakdown came in April.

I screwed up, forgot just when the end of summer term was, so I didn't drop the Photo Lab class in time to preserve my retake option, and I didn't clean out my locker in...

I suspect homophobes are nervous about occasionally being subject to the kind of unwanted masculine attention that women have to put up with all the time.

I have said that same thing, just not quite as eloquently.

Just so-so, neither great nor terrible. I've been very distracted, but have made time to shuffle through my thumbnail notes and expand some of them into actual coherent thoughts and commentary.

My arthritis is still giving me hell, so I want to conserve keystrokes, but I'm also itching to post something. So here's a small collection of some of my favorite quotes:

"If you always tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything." - Mark Twain [Samuel L. Clemens]

"Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please." -...

My scanner's just always hated me so I have to have everything put onto disk when it's developed or nobody would ever get to see anything. frown

I've had some serious problems in the past with solipsists, especially the chemically-amplified variety. I've wrestled with this piece off and on for the past year or so, once the core of it came clear to me. Yeah, sometimes I'm a bit slow.

Either way, sex should sell itself. The prudery of people who will willingly consume the most violent, disgusting, inhumane acts via all forms of media drives me crazy. Why is it okay to see violent actions on TV but not sexual ones? Why is violent hate fine, but the expression of love something to censor?

And some close-minded idiot just came into the Link office to tell us that our Sexuality issue (which I helped produce) is "disgusting" and that we should "do better." The cover art is a painting my boyfriend did, of a woman contemplating a dildo. She isn't looking lasciviously at it or inserting it into any orifices, nor is her nudity titillating, as she is crouched on a bed and neither tits nor ass are visible. It's hardly offensive, but apparently masturbation is the greatest evil of all! Strange, since it's the sexual act least likely to harm anyone...

Stupid fucking prude hypocrites who can't even read the articles before they come in to judge us. It makes me so angry.

My arthritis has been giving me Hell, and I'm in a Bipolar slump, so my external life is a bit out of control. I won't bore you or alarm you the details. Suffice it to say, that is why my responses to personal contacts have been a bit slow and terse. I'm not being aloof, just seriously distracted.

Those who have noted my comments in...

I'm new, and I'm not here just for the Tits and Ass, though I do think they're Just OK.

I have heard, and still hear a lot about how "todays kids are no-good, spoiled, don't care about school, grades, responsibility, life, values..." etc., etc, etc, ad nauseum. Yeah, right! People have been saying that shit every fifteen years for the past 15,000 years at least....

I guess I am thinking of the Kabbalah group that Madonna joined, which seems more like a cult than a genuine study of anything religious. What's with the red string? And the "Kabbalah water"?
