I'm not used to being awake so early on a Saturday morning but I had to go to the BMV and now that I'm wide awake I hardly know what to do with myself. So, I'll do some homework. It's an old topic but a special one. I've been going to concerts since my early teens so they've been an important part of my life. Generally speaking, my social anxiety isn't an issue at concerts. I feel like I just... fit in, I suppose. Like I'm supposed to be there. And I've met some really incredible people over the years.
So, anyway, my first real concert (aside from a handful of local shows I had been to) was in 1996 (God, that makes me feel old). I saw Butthole Surfers and Toadies at the Newport here in Columbus. I've been there so many times since that I can't possibly remember every band I've seen, but I remember this one. I went with my step dad, who was just an all around great guy. He later died of lung cancer so the few shows we got to attend together will always hold a special place in my heart. He also went to my second show which was even better than the first (we saw Korn, back when they were good). But that Butthole Surfers show is something I will remember until my dying day, definitely. So there you go. Now you know something about me.
I hope you all have a great day.

You know, surprisingly enough, we were in and out within twenty minutes. But yeah, more often than not, it takes entirely too long. Can't complain today though. :)

I'm very late on this but my first show was at Mershon auditorium and it was the Doors when I was fifteen for 5 bucks. When we called them out for their second encore, the Columbus police came out on stage and closed the show. Epic.
