grayness

I laid my numbers straight in a line
To try to find some wise design.
But none was there, and four and two
Had left and gone to be with you.
I count from one to five to three
And back to one
So now let's see...
I was at three, but now I'm one
No further on than when begun.
I'll start again, and stay at five
(To watch my six I will contrive).
And six is simply four and two
But unlike me, they'll be with you.
