The Month of Study is a juggling act. Each thing I need to remember is like a ball, or a bowling pin, or perhaps a chainsaw, up in the air. It sometimes is more a question of what I can most afford to drop, rather than whether something will be dropped.

The other side of this is, for the job I may be going for, there are things that will not be on the test at all, that I will need to know. So the question is also, how much time do I spend on studying those things versus studying purely to get my certification? So, far, I have gone with studying more for the test, because that's more about the fundamentals of the Java language, and will help me *anywhere*.

So, anyway:

If you could instantly be granted one talent or skill, what would it be? One realistic and one complete fantasy answer cheerfully accepted!

and

If you had to be haunted by a ghost, tell me about the ghost by which you would be haunted.

What cartoon character would you like you are most like, and why?

and

A plain box, two feet long, one foot wide, one foot high, arrives in your mail. There's no return address, but it's definitely addressed to you. It gives you no reason for alarm, so you decide to open it. What's inside?

and

Pick a figure from history. Pick one major event in their story. Tell how you would do things differently, and what the result would be.

and

What's the one greatest bit of wisdom you can offer me?

and

What do you think is a good reason to get married, and why? If there is no good reason, why?

and

What's your handwriting like?

and

What's something of which you are afraid?

and

You've been shipwrecked, stranded on an island for at least a year. One morning you are walking on the beach, and in the sand, you come upon one footprint. Yes, one. No footprints leading to it, no footprints leading from it. What is your reaction? (Bonus points if you choose to tell how it happened. )

and

What was something you did today that you enjoyed?

and

Do you believe in magic?

What's your question for me?

and

What's the handiest trick you know that you can summarize in a few words to a few paragraphs?

and

What's something stupid you've done recently... or heck, something really clever you've done is fine, too.

and

If you could go back at least 1,000 years and live in a civilization, which one would you choose if (a) you would get to return to your own time and (b) if you would not.

My answer from last time:

To go and return-
Well, I'd be scared quite a bit- but China around the time of Sun Tzu. I'd have to keep my head low, but simply to go and observe all the intrigue, and plotting, and contesting for position among the kingdoms of that time, in that area- if you don't come back with a boatload of stories from that, you don't know how to observe. I'd like to think I do. wink

To go and stay-
In many ways, the Roman civilization was not bad... but.
They tended to be a bit xenophobic. If you weren't born a citizen, you were ultimately not to be trusted. This was definitely true throughout the entire republic phase, and well into the Imperial phase. By the time it had become less so, the Roman Empire was well into its decline. Still, in many ways, it would have been the most familiar culture I can think of. I think I would chose around the time of Trajan.

Question for this time:
There's a song you may have heard - "One is the Loneliest Number". Pick a number, and give a title for a song about it (or something that had that number) that you would write.

viking:
i would like to be able to remember anything i see, hear or read.

i would be haunted by a tall man in a hat.

i am most like delirium in the sandman, coz shes nuts.

a dead baby. i have to ring the police and its a terrible mess of paperwork.

i am napoleon. i wear platform shoes so i dont feel the need to start wars all the time.

wisdom: most of the time, inaction is the best course of action. problems sort themselves out.

marriage, a good way to get a visa. otherwise, a bit silly. stay with one person forever? what if u change ur minds?

an exact mix between my mothers and my fathers

i am afraid of the sensation of fear. once it takes hold, theres little i can do to make it go away. in truth, there is nothing much to be afraid of in life.

someone has been here, but forgot to dust over one of the footprints they were trying to hide.

i enjoyed talking to my boyfriend.

i do, but not out loud.

whats the best advice YOU have to offer?

to open a bottle cap with ur teeth, go around the edge prizing it off gently.

i lied to my boss to get the job. perhaps clever, but now i have to remember not to say th truth!

if i could return, i'd be a viking. if not... i like now.

9, is the number of stars down my spine
if only you were here, then you could be mine

Thanks. From the time I found him until the following evening was about the worst 24 hours of my life. I know you can relate.

I wish I could remember more about some of the past civilizations I've read about. I'm going to have to go with one of the pre-Incan cultures.

Number song?
