In the field that lies beyond the end of my driveway is a majestic survivor. It and I faced down a tornado together one day in 1983, and we both got lucky... it passed between us, and touched neither.
Such lone trees are often called "faerie forts":
If you go there in deep twilight, or under the moon, you just might find yourself believing that...
Looking down the road at the end of my driveway one evening last week, I watched the moon rise:
