So, my already somewhat overdue next blog entry is a day later than it would have been, but for good reason.
Namely: LOE: Diggin' In The Dirt, which was a pleasant surprise last evening. Go look!
Ok, here's my news that actually relates to me-
First... my nuka-zuke is... interesting. A little too interesting. Perhaps the forces of fermenting rice bran were never meant to be tapped by this mere mortal. It's gone from sweetish to vinegary, although that may not be a bad thing- I'm just sampling the base, not the vegetables within the mix. Still, I'd have to say someone who is less adventurous than I am... might not be up for this. But I've taken several decent-sized tastes, and no adverse effects... so this weekend, I shall dig some of the cucumber chunks and bell pepper slices out and see what my little bacterial comrades have wrought, for ill or for good.
Don't even ask about the kudzu. Just. Don't. I'll take pictures. For a field that was burnt and disc-harrowed... sigh. The plus side is, I have lanes to my new trees, and to my old trees, and I am keeping them safe. But the kudzu hordes just keep on shambling forward like green, healthy Romero zombies without heads to shoot and they just keep coming man there's NO STOPPING THEM AAIIIIIEEEEEE!!!!!! ahem Ok, I'm better now. I can hold it together this summer, and come fall, no more of this pansy disc-harrowing. It's plow time, folks. You think you can lurk down there at 3 feet, you Japanese invader? Well, actually, it worked pretty well for you. But I'll be back... and better.
Cats are mostly good. Poor Screech seems to be not feeling so good, but he's still purring when I pet him... he's just not his usual self. If there's no improvement within a day or so, I will take him in to the vet, although really all I can say is that he doesn't seem happy. I also need to take Claw in to have ultrasonography done to see what the next step in treating the heart murmurs of my older babies will be, although that's not something that's immediately pressing, just sometime within the month. Fortunately, the finances have let me be saving up for this, unlike the situation with Bob (who is doing reallly well and demanding attention right now...)
I think I'm not really finished, but I am going to go for the time being. It will be less than three weeks before I am back this time. Honest.
