(5) Yeah, there's no "I" in "team", but if I looked "u" up I'd find "u" in "stupid" and "rude".

Oh- another one:

(4) Your "team" is too "tame"... "I" am the only one that could make it in the "wild".

Topic for today: Thoughts on motivational speaking

I always wanted to play a serious team sport when I was a kid. I actually did do track, and fencing, but those don't qualify, because... well, in both cases, pretty much it was show up, do your best, work together, and you're on the team.

No, I wanted a sport with a mean, slave-driving coach who berated...

It's ironic that the "I in team" motivational speech did in fact motivate you... only instead of adopting a "yaay team!" mentality, as intended, you were inspired to come up with witty repartees.

They are pretty clever though - nice worksmile Also, good use of the word aphorism - I'm totally working that in to my next scrabble game.

I'v got one of my very best friends headed to Nepal (revolution), another headed shortly thereafter to Israel (constant turmoil), and yet another friend that the state of Oklahoma seems determined to debilitate, injure, or outright kill.

I'd much prefer my friends all be safe at home. Barring that- just safe.

Sound like you know some interesting folks.

The geochemistry course was interesting - a bit over my head (they had to cater to everyone and some of the folks had 30+ years experience and/or PhDs specifically for geochemical modelling) but it was a really nice change of pace from work and helped motivate me to learn more. Thanks for asking!

So... I was sideswiped by a Mac truck driving home tonight. Fortunately, no injury to me, and the car doesn't look to be that badly damaged. Either my reflexes are more catlike than I've supposed, or my guardian angel was putting in overtime.

Fortunately, the truck driver seems a decent sort, already gave me some money, and I have contact information if it runs higher...

Holy shit! way to go on the cat-like reflexes miao!! I slid into a ditch on the Highway between Edmonton and Calgary during the last (ok, pretty much only... it was a light winter) big snowfall of this year - I was an edgier driver for a while after that, I'll tell ya.
nexttuesday:
Thank you, very much! kiss

Ok, here's the analysis:

First, since the outcome is already set (as is shown by the priest knowing who will live and who will die), the odds can't change.

Second, think of it this way: the way the prisoner asked his question, separated the prisoners as a whole into two groups, the prisoner himself, and the other two, Each prisoner has a 1/3 chance of...

Ok, first journal entry. I'm not inclined towards exposition at the moment, so I'll start with a riddle.

There were three prisoners. Two were sentenced to be shot at dawn, and one would be set free. None of them knew what his fate was to be.

A priest was visiting each of the prisoners, and being the good, gossipy soul that he was, he had...

I remembered reading something like this in a magazine, but a quick search back through my magazine pile didn't reveal the article. I thought it (the article) was about the probability proof, and how it was debated, and how the answer was actually that the odds were the same as before even though intuitively that doesn't seem to be the case, to the point that a bunch of people wrote in and slagged the initial article but turned out to be wrong.... but I might have dreamt it or something, math proofs have never been my thing although god knows I've had to struggle my way through enough of them.

Oh, and hi. Congrats on your first entry and welcome to the site.
