Yesterday morning driving into work, I pulled off the interstate onto the last little part of my drive to work, and up to a stoplight. Sitting there at the stoplight, I noticed one of what I have always heard called GrandDaddy Longlegs [I think they may be what are infamously referred to around here as "Ceiling Spiders"] on my windshield. Apparently, it had held on... Read More
I hope your eyes are better...I've had many run ins with spiders in cars...makes me want to jump out, but it's kinda hard to do that when you are driving.
As the days grow shorter, my pictures grow darker, which is only appropriate. It's a shame the camera and the eye are not equivalent, because my favorite time is deep twilight, and it's hard to capture this to images without a steady hand, indeed.
One day last week, after sunset, a storm threatened, but never materialized. Echoes of... Read More
I think the sheep is puckering up and blowing me a kiss in that shot.
No, I think the foundation is built to withstand several centuries at Igtham Mote. (pronounced item mote)
It was built between the 14th and 15th centuries and just underwent a huge refurbishment.
It's definitely fall, as much by the slant of light, as by the fact it's pleasantly cool when I walk to my car in the evenings, but my usual fall burst of energy has yet to arrive. Not that I'm hopelessly tired or listless, but usually by now... the season almost would have the same feel for me that you might have had when you... Read More
We all have our favorite things that we can count upon- or, if you don't, you're leading a pretty hellish existence, and you have my distinct sympathy.
I have more books than I can readily count, a subscription to NetFlix, a fair-sized DVD collection of my own , a great many games, tools to construct in code anything I can imagine,... Read More
I did find myself in a position of strength this past week. That's not unusual, though, as I'm usually in a position of strength. I am the landlord, you know! Don't mess with me! I'll cut off your water!
First, velvet_petal, Greaser, and InnocentSid, I am going to do the result of my little applied experiment on Saturday...
This has been a low energy week, from last Wednesday. I have run out of steam for everything but work it seems, so I'm still waiting for my usual fall burst of energy to kick in. Perhaps as soon as there's a trace... Read More
I've been having trouble gathering, or at least articulating, my thoughts lately. It's one of the reasons I have not been journaling, commenting or otherwise posting much. I read journals, comments and the boards every day. I just find I don't have much to say.
Let's try this again. I can't even really remember what I said before Baby decided she was going to do a blog intervention, so I'll just start rambling and see where it takes me...
This past weekend was interesting. The instant I stepped outside on Saturday, I could feel the change in the seasons, feel the shift towards Fall. It must be the quality of... Read More
in word association you just picked the one word that I can't even respond to! They just creep me out soooooo bad it makes me twitchy. So I'll have to wait for someone else to chime in.
you almost killed me with the one sentence stating that you could FEEL the shift in seasons. Next to my grandparents- it's THAT feeling that keeps me homesick beyond all reason
Ok, actual post soon, I promise!

so what is actually considered running late for you? I should be out the door by 7 to be on time but I'm usually on here at 10 after . Just being nosey.
So, when will we have a chance to meet?
Actually, I'm hoping Ilectra and Ed will follow through on a Halloween event we were discussing. I'll keep bugging them about it.
First, I want to say I was saddened today to see that Loe had been archived. If you ever enjoy reading anything I write, or I've ever made anyone around here happy for a moment, it's to her credit, too. I unlurked specifically because she interested me enough that I wanted to talk with her. She was- and is- my first friend on here,... Read More
Thanks, it's good to be back. Not that I was gone all that long.
Although it looks like you were pretty busy. I missed a few journals. So I am going to try to catch up all at once.
Mostly because I want to answer your questions. I love questions.
1. My first memory is of my momma making homemade biscuits. I used to just sit and watch her cook for hours. I don't know if you have seen Flux's recent video on the subject but it brought back a lot of memories. She's a lot like I remember my mom being when I was a little girl.
2. My first thought was that waking up alone sucks. Even though I was the one who broke it off I am really missing my ex.
3. It's probably a tie. I had an older cousin who had been in the military. He never really talked about what he did there. Anyway, he saw there was a need, and he started teaching me to defend myself when I was very young. He also taught me that I didn't have to accept my family's idea of what was the proper role for a girl. This was pretty important for me growing up in a family where the males outnumber the females 10 to 1. For that I will always be very grateful. The other was Yusuf. My Ex. He was the best training partner I ever had. And he taught me a lot about love and relationships. And in return I broke his heart. I still feel bad about that.
4. I barely know what a font is.
5. I think it depends on the situation. There are a lot of things I don't want to know about. But secrets can really suck. Even if I do have a lot of my own.
I really miss having someone that I can trust to tell alll my secrets to. I didn't appreciate how great that was until it was gone.
6. I wish I knew. I thought I knew once. I miss that assurance. But I think I am a better person now that I am not quite so sure of myself. Or at least a kinder person.
7. I'm not sure. When I lived in Hokkaido we used to go hiking a lot. But everything was in kilometers and I am not so good at conversions. Maybe 30 miles? My favorite place to walk ever is Daisetsuzan naitional park. So beautiful. If you ever fo to Japan you should check it out.
8. No. I really can't.
9. I don't know. But I know that long soliloquays are an important part of any plan for world domination. Why anyone would want to rule the world is beyond me. Seems like a lot of work for too little reward.
10. I think it's the eyes.
11. Good Morning Heartache - Billy Holiday
12. 9.
I have a lot of memories that don't seem to match up with what other people remember. Sometimes that makes me wonder about my sanity. But most of the time I just figure everyone else is in denial.
My worst habit is falling for unavailable men. Followed by letting men fall for me when I know I will be unavailable to them. Maybe some day I'll figure this relationship business out.
I didn't know Loe, but I am saddened by all the archiving that is going on. Judging by what you have said about her I regret that I never got the chance to know her. She sounds pretty special.
I see myself. Dancing. The more I look at it the more it reminds me of one of the happier days of my life.
I really love your photos by the way. I think you have a great eye.
What a handsome boy Screech was.
I had a pretty good, if somewhat uneventful, weekend. Hope your's was good as well.
So, here I sit in the early morning, a victim of having gone to bed with a great idea, only to wake up and realize I didn't like it that much. Still it sent me off to sleep with a smile, and I have to think the fault is mine for forgetting some essential part of what made it so wonderful.
i love your comments- they always make me smile also, i totally know what you mean, about going to bed with a great idea and completely forgetting it in the morning. That's me- today. hahaha have a great weekend!
Ok, here are the things I saw this week that were interesting enough for me to at least *try* to get a picture of them.
Driving home Wednesday, just before I turned in, I noticed two usual clouds. The first was an orphaned bit of a jet contrail caught in the sunset's glow. I have no idea how... Read More
