If the point of the mortgage bailout had been to stimulate the economy, yes - and I admit, I haven't really followed it since it was passed. I thought it was developed to help people who were defaulting on their mortgages due to their poor/malicious design. It has been bastardized into an economic stimulus package to maintain the 'American way of life", which is what caused unrealistic expectations that got people into bad mortgages in the first place. This isn't going to do anything for the people who can't afford their mortgages, except keep them employed in a job that doesn't pay enough to cover their bad mortgage. If they had called it an economic stimulus package from the beginning, I wouldn't have a problem with it. But I feel the victim of a bait and switch scheme.
catdad:
Yet, interest rates go up and down without 'bailout' programs. What did my tax dollars just pay for if all that is happening is interest rates going down? Agreed, we need more regulations on corporate officers, boards, and lobbyists. But, I don't know if our culture would ever allow it. They would find ways to get around it, even if we did. In my heart, I think CEOs should have limits on how much they can make based on a ratio to the average, median, or lowest employee wage. But, I'm not totally comfortable with something like that. It infringes on someone's ability to negotiate their pay more than I'd like. But I'd support it under most circumstances.

Lost & Found

...Part one...

Eight riders rode out that brisk Autumn day
Grim and determined, they set on their way
And each had a reason- and some more than one,
As they rode to the East, in the new morning's sun.

Anders, the oldest, a sailor was he,
Who'd spent most of his life far out on the sea.
Uncouth was his manner, unkempt...

I got my present today. Thanks so much doll. I love it!

It isn't about the norm per se, yet there is a formula that is encouraged. It saddens me to see that there are some girls dead-set on sticking to it that they take suggestions in the submission guidelines as if they were the end-all be-all answers.

. . . but enough about that.

My newest fascination with film is light leaks. I recently purchased an Imperial Satellite 127 vintage plastic camera. After I get back from my tour in January I will (hopefully) have enough disposable income to pick up a few rolls and take it for a test run.

Random words to fill a page
To flit and echo round this cage
of open white-
I've too little now to fit
Or cover more than just one bit
of this expanse.
But what's the power of a thought?
Is it less when left uncaught?
If you're the only one to know
And at some point, leave and go...

Was it ever there?

And if...

Larger than the unverse,
Larger than infinity-
Even when you close your eyes
It's there for you to see.
If you you breathe this,
You'll breathe your last-
But it'll still be there
When all has passed.
It can replace your dearest
And undo past deeds
Of all things there are-
It's what no one needs.

What is it?

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

And here's...

I survived my quest, and was able to prove who I was to everyone's satisfaction. The sphinx didn't kill itself in chagrin, but then I didn't get a curse laid upon me, so we'll call it even.

This just in:

I want more weekend.

That is all.

*sigh*

Today, I have a quest.

As quests go, it is rather small and silly, but it is a quest nonetheless. I journey far into unfamiliar territory, in search of wisdom that will allow me to overcome an obstacle.

I'll be back this evening. Well, as long as I am able to satisfy the sphinx with my answers, the riddle being, "Just who are you, anyway?"

The truth of the matter is, as much as I play at being cryptic, I'm just rather tired and quite boring right now.

These days, it's up at a quarter to six, out the door by seven, in at work by 8:15, work until six, come home and collapse. I haven't been able to find the energy to do my walks during the week for...

It's ok.
I've been feeling fine about it the past 3 days. But today I just kinda feel down. Guess it's just not meant to be, but I've planned and looked forward sooo much. It's a come down with a *bump*
franpire:
Both airports in Bangkok have been overtaken by anti government demonstrators. No planes have taken off or landed in 3 days and do not look like they will in the near future. They are on the eve of civil war if the prime minister won't step down. They (PAD) say he is corrupt. HE says he was elected in a fair democratic election and he will not step down.

There have already been deaths among Thai and tens of thousands of passengers are stranded.

Not exactly promising news. frown

I lied; this time it's just one cryptic line.

LOL. Okay, you bring the safe and I'll lure them under a conveniently located cliff edge.

If you can't find a safe, I'm sure one of those ACME weight things will do. biggrin

Thanks for the giggle, Gray. kiss
franpire:
Actually he is as good as gold. And stays as quiet as a mouse all the time I am sleeping. As soon as I do get up though he's pouncing all over the place like a wallaby! He especially likes sitting behind the couch waiting for me to come past then he takes a running jump and somersaults at my knees. biggrin I love him to pieces and he will be the only thing I miss on my trip next month.

I filled in for Charon and Hades on Saturday, so I gave myself the rest of the weekend off.
I'll be back soon, with something more than two cryptic lines.

Wow, Sunday evening already.

I could use another day... or three.

Not much has been up with me lately, other than work. Which isn't a bad thing. It really does remind me of a puzzle, and as long as I stay slightly ahead of the curve, life should be good. So, that's where my focus is.

So whatever is with my little project you might...
