Why should I, in any way, shape or form give a wet fuck about Tookie Williams?
We can debate the death penalty all day, how racist it is (it IS racist), how it isnt applied evenly for all crimes (it isnt), the vast religious and moral dilemma of putting a human to death as punishment.
But thats not the point.
I hear news reports of Snoop Dogg and Jamie Fox holding rallies in support of Williams, saying he should be granted clemency because he changed. He renounced his ways. He's an inspiration.
What? Show me a guy on death row who doesnt feel sorry for what he did that got him there, and I'll show you an idiot. Sure he's sorry. So is every other fucking inmate. But that doesnt mean he shouldnt get the punishment that the courts gave him.
Yeah, I get that people love him and respect him. I get that he was nominated for a Nobel Prize. But, somebody loved Jeffrey Dahmer too. Somebody loved Jessie Tomendequas while he was on death row for killing little Megan Kanka. Hell, someone loved Hitler.
Just because people love and respect you does NOT mean you shouldnt be punished for your crimes.
