I got my tooth pulled today. It was creepy but not too bad. It was quick, anyway. The worst parts were the needles of novacaine, then the *crack* noises as the tooth was broken free, and then the stitching part. Yuk, yuk, yuk.

So it seemed fine, didn't even hurt really. I got a prescription for Vicodin but I don't feel like I need it. So I was making myself some soup, or about to, when I noticed a loose string in my mouth...

Here is my conversation with a friend on AIM:

Friend: what?
Goob: my stitches came untied
Goob: i have loose string in my mouth
Friend: bleeding?
Goob: i went to look at it with a mirror and I got all funny lightheaded and sick and i think I almost passed out
Goob: this is weird
Goob: not bleeding
Goob: but I looked at this gaping black hole and i got sick
Friend: don't do that
Goob: i don't want to think about it
Friend: are you rinsing with warm salt water ?
Goob: i did
Goob: but there's string all over in my mouth
Goob: i really don't like it
Goob: i called the dentist answering service but what can they do?
Goob: I think I am stuck until tomorrow
Goob: I'm not going to eat again
Friend: thet can tell you if you need to come in or not
Friend: put some cotton in your mouth
Friend: call the dentist in the morning
Goob: no, he just called me back
Friend: good
Goob: he says it's okay
Goob: but i don't believe him
Goob: he said it's supposed to stay in 1-2 days
Goob: then come out on its own
Goob: but then he said I could just pull it out
Goob: I don't want to pull it out
Goob: it hasn't even been 6 hours
Friend: so wait 1-2 days and then pull it out
Goob: but there's this long string in my mouth
Goob: and they never said i had to pull it out, it's supposed to come out itself
Friend: do you want me to pull it out
Goob: no no no
Goob: i think I will just try to ignore it
Friend: ok then
Goob: I don't like it
Goob: i am gonna rinse a hundred more times
Goob: and i can't eat anything
Goob: or drink anything
Friend: you'll live
Goob: until this is gone
Friend: you can drink
Goob: i think i fucked it up somehow
Goob: I ate a couple of crackers
Goob: stupid crackers
Friend: RELAX
Goob: i didn't feel that panicked until i started to get lightheaded
Goob: that was weird, cuz I felt fine, not freaked out, i was just looking at the thing in the mirror and then I realized I was getting lightheaded and my fingers went numb and my ears started to ring and I wondered what the fuck am i passing out? so I looked away from it and held onto the sink until I felt better
Goob: I didn't feel grossed out or anything, just a general 'ew' before i started to feel ill
Goob: is that what happens to people who pass out at the sight of blood?
Friend: it freaked you out... it's okay now. you're allowed to have that reaction
Goob: yeah but it's weird
Goob: you know me, I have to analyze
Goob: how can I have this extreme physical reaction without having the mental reaction first?
Friend: i can't answer that
Goob: i know
Goob: i'm just venting
Goob: there's a hole in my head.
Friend: a very cmall one
Friend: small
Goob: I put a cottonball in there
Goob: I feel better with it covered
Friend: good good good
Goob: it is bleeding a little
Goob: not making dinner any more
Friend: keep rinsing every so often and change the cotton
Goob: ew ew ew
Goob: i don't want the cotton any more
Goob: it hurt
Goob: i pulled out the string
Goob: ewwwww
Goob: ewwwwwwwwww
Goob: I'm afraid to move
Goob: to swallow
Goob: the string was there for a reason
Friend: i'm sure it will heal just fine
Goob: I am playing with the string and i see how it came untied
Goob: it doesn't take much to loosen it

That was really traumatic for me. I'm not the type of girl who gets sick at the sight of blood... but there are some things that do freak me out. Feet and mouths. Not regular feet and mouths, just hurt feet and mouths. The idea of a broken toe makes me sick to my tummy. A broken finger is just life. Whatever. So now I know that a tooth crater makes me pass out. Especially if it's my own.

I'm glad I didn't actually pass out. That would have sucked.

Ok, I am hungry but I am afraid to eat. I think I will go back and make that soup but I will cook it super-long to make sure everything is super-soft.

Stupid cracker.
