regarding lying boy: two years and you didn't know! that's awful .. i think i have more impatience + less respect for people who lie about all the little things in life ("yes, i returned your video on time") constantly than people who tell monsters every so often ("i slept with jimmy page"). i would just laugh at the latter, whereas the former actually deals with your everyday life.

Phaedra is exactly right! I guess since my life has only been spent around animals who are loved , and I haven't seen any of the awful things that she has, I haven't gotten the-- 'detatchment' isn't the right word-- 'perspective' ?-- to see past something that hits me so viscerally as any individual instance of such cruelty... I think the anger about the kitten is justified, but it mustn't just stop after a few moments venting at the keyboard...

And Phaedra-- I'll go out first thing AM to get some ropes and duct tape. Is early afternoon good for the trunk abduction?

poor Luca! my cat Gus loves car rides and is scared of nothing, so vets aren't a problem for him. he's pretty brazen, too, and always seems to have the munchies, which gets him in trouble. last time we went for a checkup, the vet opened up the mini-fridge that contained all the little bottles of vaccines and shots, and gus jumped right into the fridge, looking for food. ha ha!

hee hee hee... i remember moving from Ohio to North Carolina when I was a kid. My parents & I were in the car (I think it was a Gremlin-- livin' large!) with our four cats. My dad's cat (huge grey long-haired mix with a tiny head) just curled up under the driver's seat, and howled and drooled the entire time. My younger siamese-mutant spent almost the whole trip standing up on my father's lap, with his paws up on the steering wheel-- he couldn't get enough of looking out of all the windows, watching everything go by... My mom's persian, and my older siamese, were too cool for such displays...

My kitten likes to lay across my lap while I'm taking a poo. I don't understand it, but he loves it when I poop. Cats are funny. ~

I know that you are an animal guru but I thought I would pass along a tip that has worked well with our new cat introductions (3 now). If you have heard this one before you can stop reading I guess... anyway: Get a clean towel and rub it all over cat #1 (especially the scent glands on the head). Then take said towel and rub it all over cat #2 in the same manner. Lather,rinse ,repeat...er, ah... well repeat anyway. It helps them to hate eachother less when they can't stop smelling the other on themselves. I think it kind of tricks them into getting used to each other too. Maybe "if I let it get close enough to me to get it's scent on me it can't be that bad". I don't know what the secret is but this has worked wonders for us in with our kitties(our old roomates kitty too).
Pekoe pees on things if the litter box gets too dirty for his liking. Usually we throw those things out. Unless they are machine washable and we catch it right away. The last ,last time we moved we ended up getting a new mattress. Vinegar doesn't really work but that enzyme stuff isn't bad.
