Good entry, good thoughts. To "stop what if'ing everything and just do it" I think is good advice for a lot of people (myself included--I tend to be too prone to inertia in my life). Your post just made me think about that kind of bravery, i.e. the ability to take risks, to put yourself on the line. That trait is like a muscle--you have to utilize it regularly to keep it strong. And if you're not in practice with it, using it for the first time hurts.

About your post to punkrockwhore's journal regarding these issues: given the nature of this site, I think it's perfectly fine and natural to give male group applicants more scrutiny than female. Doesn't bother me none. You might want to make a new post about the policies though... I'm a bit confused.
