And as for the future...
I've been thinking a lot lately about what I want to do in life (I guess this is normal seeing as how I'm a sophomore in college with no definite idea what I'd like to be doing in one year let alone ten!) I've pretty much settled upon three main interests...
-theatre education
-directing
-screenwriting
I'm really curious about the world of film, but I have no clue where to start. I just never had the opportunity to explore the media, and it seems as if everyone involved has made movie shorts before they were out of diapers. However, screenwriting has come into my mind as a feasible option. Why? Because I'm always getitng yelled at for personalizing everything i do. My advisor, a Yale alumn costume designer, informed me that perhaps this costume design thing isn't what I'm meant to do. She didn't tell me I can't do it, but basically she said that it should "come easy" to me if it was what I should be doing, and it doesn't seem to "come easy." Perhaps I should take up prostitution, then? Just kidding.
Anyway, I'm really self-doubting and all that, so it meant a heck of a lot to me when she commented on how she thought I was "smart." I am smart, damnit... but sometimes it's hard to believe. You know what? I have good ideas and a damn creative imagination. Maybe that's not good as a costume designer, but there has got to be some field out there that wants a wacko with a brain, doesn't there? *crosses fingers.*
So I've got 80000 ideas for a screenplay and lack of any sort of motivation to get past a vague scene description break down on each. I've never written anything longer than 14 pages. I'm thinking of ordering movie magic academic (aka the cheaper version that works the same). At least then maybe I'll be so excited by the format that I'll keep writing. It's worked for SG.. I love writing in this little text box with the miniture font size. It's so cute and makes me just want to write more and more and more...
and now I'm guessing this entry is way too long. I don't blame you for skipping to this paragraph (if you even bother to do that much) -- aha- i caught you. You thought you could get away from me? Nuh uh, silly wrabbit. It's 10:25pm, perhaps I'll start on a screenplay in word (icky icky format) tonight. That means by the year... 2089, I might have written a scene! Whoever said slow but steady wins the race is already doing the macarana at the finish line.
"Hey, macarana, ahhh."
