This is intense: I need a tutorial on CD to learn how to use the new phones at work. There's a whole notebook to fill out when you're done.

It's times like these I understand how my parents feel when they look at all our new fangled gadgets....I feel old.

I think I need a third degree for this. frown

Sorry it has taken me forever to get back to you on your comments in my journal.

I saw one production of Perestroika a few years back, but my experience with "Millenium Approaches" is limitted to reading the play and seeing the film. As far as comparing both part 2s, I agree with you about the "magic of theatre" aspect- but I think "angels" the movie stands out on it's own as a totally different piece of art - same script, same dialogue, same emotions to a certain extent, but a different EXPERIENCE. And even though the experience WAS different, I don't think it was any less effective for me.

I need a nap.

I might have to fashion a nook under my desk ala George Costanza.

In school, I was fond of sleeping on my desk, with a copy of Sweet's catalogue for a pillow. One Saturnday morning, my Professor mistook me for dead. tongue

I got a bill from Purolator yesterday for 20 odd dollars. Apparently they paid duty for my hats.

*sigh* Those hats now cost more than they are worth.

I'm starting some countdowns of my own. I just got an email from Ticketmaster reminding me of these events--who knew they do this? Perhaps this is why I had to pay them about 10 dollars in extra fees per ticket.

Please, take a moment and follow the Snowbride saga.

What kind of shirt could Gatsby possibly want for his birthday?

I hate being sick.

It's 2:00 am, my muscles ache so much my skin hurts, my throat is raw, and I can't sleep.

I got tired of lying in bed moaning, so I'm here now.

Is anyone else not sleeping?

Mine isn't as severe as many are; it's tied to my asthma so it's more of an agonizingly slow sufficating death.
But thanks for the sentiments!

Dear Allie,

re: your letter of April 7, 2004.

Thank you for your interest in the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. Your patronage is very important to us.

Unfortunately, the winning numbers are not known until the day of the draw, and even if we did know them in advance, we could not divulge these numbers simply for your shopping pleasure. You'll be happy to...

I think the Lottery Commissions have a form letter...I got the same one from the Powerball people. wink

Toronto, huh? One of my favorite cities in the world. Love it, love it, love it.

Funny how a film can just turn your skull to mush, isn't it?

Dear Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation,

I have a full-fledged shoe fetish I must feed. If you could just give me the winning numbers to this week's lottery, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hugs and Kisses,

Allie

and if you actually get the winning numbers, do you think you could give me, oh, maybe a couple of them? just enough to pay my rent next month and get some new boots? and maybe buy groceries? i'll love you forever and ever. well, wait, i'd do that without the numbers... but the numbers would help.

I'm spending my weekend here. More specifically, I'll be spending Friday hung over, promising to find religion if God calls off the choir of jackhammers. The rest of it, I'll probably spend sleeping too much, and driving around just for the sake of driving around. I've lived here for a year and a half and still barely know anything about the city.

I need to go exploring.

The girl is going home to visit her parents, which means I get the bed to myself. I think it is more sinfully delicious than if I had somebody else in it during her absence. Seriously - I can just stretch out forever. Maybe I'm getting old. biggrin

I broke the news (and felt like a heel for doing it) to my parents that I wouldn't be coming home for Easter. They're cool with it, but I still feel guilty about the whole affair. My excuses are twofold - firstly, I don't want my first cross-province trek in the car to be on a holiday weekend. Fuck that traffic. Secondly, once you escape the confines of school, a 3 day weekend is no longer the excuse you need to run off and visit friends and family. It is now the excuse I need to get caught up on some housework, and maybe watch a few movies that I've purchased recently but not had the chance to sit down with.

As horrifically out of whack as it may sound - I do so genuinely enjoy little vacations in my apartment.

that is right, just believe everything the photography student tells you...

yes, it's in the commentary. she talks about her experiences reaffirming her faith in god. and that god has found a way to use her. that is great, if that's her experience and that's how she chooses to interpret it, whatever helps you make sense of an often senseless situation. i however, like to believe that my time in africa reaffirmed my faith in humanity.

just what i've read over here

I went for an ultrasound today. Is it wrong that I search for signs of disappointment and fear in the technician's eyes? Signs of lumps, nodules, or even worse, cancers? When I sneak glances at the screen I see only shadows and light areas--it means nothing to me--but if I stare at the technician's face will I see the change when they find something awful?...

you know, i thought about shortening the dress. however, there are two problems with that:

a) i'm short

and

b) i'm also round.

so when i talked to my mom, who has the dress with her in kelowna, we were pretty sure that shortening it would make me look like a big red ball. props to my mom for the lovely, 'i-feel-so-sexy' image.

but she also said we could go shopping when she comes for my b-day. i don't know why i'm so into this prom thing, i've never been one for a lot of that girly stuff. but i plan on looking just smashing, as i'm sure you will too dear.

I'm so lucky - I know for a fact cancer is waiting around the corner, just counting down the days until he and i can be playmates. Really saves on the worrying. Seriously, I'm going to wake up one morning with a tumor the size of a medicine ball hanging from my septum and my only reaction will be "What took you so long?"

One of my friends had a fun experience with the policies and bureaucracy involved in disclosing information to a patient where he was basically deliberately (and erroneously) allowed to believe he was HIV+ for an entire weekend. It's been a while since it happened and many of the important details are lost to me at the moment, but I'm surprised there wasn't a lawsuit involved. The important lesson: don't try to glean anything until you're having the "here's what's up" talk with the doctor. Anything else just makes for bad mojo.

I think we need to make Salad King an important part of Prom-related mayhem.

I love you shitloads, dude. Seriously.

Fuck school. You're smart. And creative.
_sarah_:
I wasn't sure if I should call you Allie or not, since I never know who minds if their real name is on the internet. (By the way, I say Allie because that's how dogslife referred to you when we last talked. If you prefer something else, let me know).

I had no idea where you'd gotten Ginny. Now I do, and it's very cool. smile I love the Harry Potter books.

Spying is fine. smile I figured you'd see that in his journal. Rush is a really good band, but Geddy Lee's voice can be a bit of an acquired taste. Also, their music is extremely different through the years, so I COULD ask dogslife to play some for you, but he might play all the stuff that I hate. wink

My favorites are "Time Stand Still" (energizes me like you wouldn't believe because it always makes me think of growing up and friends through the years), "Subdivisions", "Red Barchetta" (good for driving), and "Ghost of a Chance" (the song in my journal).
