I stretched my ears very slowly. I used to buy rings in 1mm guages going upwards and once a month would push a bigger one through. That was many many years ago. You can use tapers but I just found it easier to do myself pushing through a ring or a tunnel in a slightly bigger size. Last Christmas I went from 14mm to 16mm using Kaos software plugs. They are a bendy plastic which you can fold into quarters put into your tunnel and then they reform to their original shape stretching the piercing. It hurt pretty bad for a couple of days but was the quickest way of stretching ever. The company don't endorse doing it that way but it's well known you can stretch 2mm that way in one go. You can buy them from BME.
Anyway, good luck with the stretching, hope its a minimal pain thing for you!!

Well i have started doing it really slowly first 1.2 then 1.6 and so on i leave them in till they stop weeping , go to superdrug and get there own tree tea oil it is part tea tree and all these other oill it makes my ears heal really fast and start of with the little bar bell because it gives your ears room to swell and it it really easy to sleep on the long stretchers they are crap , dont ram it straight through because you will get a blow ouy or
