This is bordering on the absurd.

We still haven't had a chance to dry out from Bonnie, Charley, Frances, or Gaston...and the rain from Hurricane Ivan has already started falling. And they're predicting this one will stall out in the southern Appalachians, which just so happens to be where I've currently set up shop. We've got at least a 40% chance of rain every day...

Thanks for your post on my journal. You the man!

I never got a chance to tell you, but when you left me the pic you have in your profile in my journal, it totally brought a smile to my face! Jinx looks *big*!!! And happy too, but I don't blame him--he has a very nice owner. wink

Glad school is going well for you...and thanks for the friends request! love

Well, the rain is FINALLY beginning to slack off. Good news, since we were well into our third straight day of Hurricane Frances-related downpours. As you might imagine, between Bonnie, Charley, Gaston, and now Frances, things have been a little...damp around here. The grass has turned into a spongy, squishy adventure to walk across, the sidewalks have turned dangerously slick, the normally-benign little creek that...

You must have had a good English teacher. wink I think adults can get equally as much, if not more from that story than children. I'm so glad I came back to it now.

Heh, I guess we in Cali here are lucky. The only things we've gotten from the storms, is abnormally warm, (nice) weather. I can't complain. biggrin And my iggy likes it too. It usually never gets above the low 70's here.

I'll be sending good thoughts for you and your mom.

I love the rain

Well, it's official: I'm in Spartanburg. Though everything else remains pretty indefinite: I still don't have permanent housing, a job, or any real friends to speak of. Well, except for Yuliya of course, but convincing her to do anything not school- or home-related is like trying to convince a Republican to vote against Bush: good luck with that.

Speaking of politics...(you thought I could go...

Thank you for posting those points. I think this is one of those elections where I'm hard pressed to do my research thoroughly and vote for whom I honestly think would be a good leader, not just vote for the lesser of two evils. surreal
No, I'm not actively involved with Scales n' Tails, but rather than members buying me things off my wishlist, I'd rather the money go to them instead. Seeing abandoned, abused, or sick iggys makes me sad. Both of the igs I have now are rescues I've adopted. smile

So I don't care,
I don't care,
I don't care
What you're-a gonna say,
'Cause I'm leaving TODAY!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's finally over. The "city" of Barnwell and everyone and everything associated with it can officially kiss my ass, because as of tomorrow I'll be kickin' it Sparkletown-style.

And not a minute...

you're moving?!?!?!?! where have I been? I really need to get out of this deep, dark hole that I call a home more often wink

let me know when you get all settled and comfy and everything biggrin

awww....thank you so much!! looking over your shoulder, huh? I can see how that would be exciting! I do that at home when I have to sit in my living room with the dial-up connection and check the site while my grandparents are sitting across from me!
I guess I am "tanner" as you put it....I went to Ocean City, Maryland about two weeks ago and spent 3/4 of my time either outside in the sun or inside listening to a band of some sort (since I'm officially legal now!! oh yay!!)
I will definitely talk with you later - right now I have about a billion things to do before school starts next week! and then I will have even less time to do anything! biggrin

From my friend Susan:

Hi, Sweetie -

How are you doing these days?

I have a favor to ask of you. I am working on a detailed, positive vision of the future... let's say about 50 - 100 years from now.

In other words, I'm trying to envision the very best the world could be if we suddenly begin to do everything exactly right!

So,...

Yeah, I know. No updates since July. Well, get used to it: I'm officially a USC-Upstate student now. No, really! The fees are paid, the classes are signed up for...all I've got to do now is show up and move into my broom closet...er, 'multipurpose room.' It happens when you wait until the last possible minute to sign up for everything: now there's a waiting...

Oh, crap.

I FINALLY got the new power supply to my laptop delivered via FedEx this afternoon, and I'm all stoked. I'm finally going to get to talk to my friends again, update my long-neglected journal, take my time checking my e-mail, yadda yadda yadda....

....and my computer just killed another power supply dead. How is this possible? I saw it happen, too. The screen...

So I'm sitting here, watching election returns on WIS channel 10. We had a primary for Fritz Hollings's soon-to-be-vacated Senate seat today and, predictably, our former Governor, "Uncle Dave" Beasley, has a narrow lead on Rep. Jim DeMint on the Republican side, but not enough of a lead to avoid a runoff. On the Democratic side, our former superintendent of education Inez Tenenbaum has steamrolled...
