The chalkbord seems like a good idea. You should sand and prime it first though if you didn't alread. Another good painting surface i've found at home depot are Cheap hollowcore doors that they will cut to size for you.

I also like to use household paints but recently switched to useing a polyurethane mixed with pigment. You get similer results but you have much more control over the range and quality of the colors. plus it will last much longer than household paints which are only designed to last for a couple of years. I don't know if theres any place around you that sells pigment but if your intrested at all there's two places in new york that will ship(I think)"Kremmer pigment" and "Guerra paint and pigment" both are in manhattan.

i've been alright.. geez, i can't even remember the last time i spoke to you or what was going on in my life at the time! it's been a bit of a dark year for me, but nothing too bad. you know me, i'm a trooper. i will survive.

i was just down south not too long ago. not as far south as you are.. i was just in asheville, nc. but it was definitely a full blown southern experience. the south is a scary place, man.
