yea, it seems to me that he is kind like robert frank in that they both haven't seem to progress successfully, or at least critically. they both did great work when they were younger and everyone loved it and it spoke to a lot of people and now they are trying to find new things and its not working quite as well, it seems. well, rosenquist a little moreso because i love robert franks recent work with text and photography, but people seem to attract to to his old work more than they do this stuff... and its just a lot stronger, visually. i think that applies to rosenquist more than frank though. well, at least he's {rosenquist} not stagnant. a big show like that maybe showed a little too much of a process that isn't realized yet?
i will take your advice and check out koons when i can. some things, most things, dont translate well on the screen or in print. especially art that wasnt intended for either.
