Five-minute fiction - 00:29-00:34
Where do you think the carter has run off to? Darker said as Grim leapt pulled himself over the edge of the cart and slumped to the cobbles.
He was covered in cream, from head to toe and all the places in between. He dragged a finger along the sleeve of his coat and pushed a large dollop of it into his mouth. It tasted sweet with a hint of vanilla.
Well, thats good luck.
What? Grim said looking up at Darker.
The box was pink and made of the tougher paper that had been appearing in the City of late. Darker had removed the lid and was staring at the contents. He lowered the box enough for Grim to see inside and Grim felt his stomach rumble. Six perfect eclairs lay wreathed in fluffy tissue. The smooth, flaky surface of the pastry glistened yellow in stark contrast the rich dark chocolate.
Lunch and dinner for a couple of days, no doubt.
