Grim sat staring out the window of the room he and Darker shared. The small room, in an even smaller house faced the distant harbour, which could just be seen through the constant haze that hung over the City, a remnant of the Citys new industrial push. The haze clung to the sky, despite the rain which pelted down, keeping the pair inside. The roofs of the City were treacherous enough without the addition of rain. Darker lay on the bed, the only bed, his eyes shielded from the lantern which hissed quietly in the corner. Grim had tried to think of everything to break this malaise that hung over him. Theyd been out of work for nearly a fortnight and were running dangerously short of money to eat, let alone pay the rent.
