Five-minute fiction - 00:08-00:13
The tip of the crossbow bolt glinted in the sickly orange glow of the gas lantern one of the guards held. Obviously not the one with the crossbow, that guard had both hands firmly wrapped around the wooden stock of the weapon that Grim thought it likely the wood would snap crossbows werent made like they used to be. Grim smiled a nervous smile and raised his hands. Slowly, lest his nose have an unfortunate run in with a speeding crossbow bolt. The Guild had good healthcare, but Grim did not suspect it to be that good. A hole in the head, well an extra one, usually ended badly.
Hiya, lads? Grim said, the smile broadening so much it looked, well strange.
Lads? What do we look like, some school yard boys out for a pop round the whatsname? the one holding the lantern said. Grim noted that he also held a sword. Grim didnt like swords, they made him nervous. Not as much as loaded crossbows pointed at his face though, but swords were up there.
