IN MEMORIUM:
MICHAEL TURNER
After a long battle with cancer, artist Michael Turner passed away on Friday night in Santa Monica, California.
The 37-year-old artist, who was discovered by Image founder Marc Silvestri in 1998, co-created Witchblade before leaving Top Cow to form his own publishing company, Aspen MLT. While still producing his creator-owned titles Fathom and Soulfire, Turner quickly became one of the most recognizable and in-demand cover artists, providing memorable work for DC Comics Identity Crisis, Marvels Civil War and numerous other landmark issues and titles, including next months Uncanny X-Men #500.
"A nicer guy never lived.
A better friend you could never want.
And he loved my Sam."
-Jeph Loeb
