I opened the door and she walked in, silently. She stared at the floor as she moved to the chair and took a seat. All I could hear was the sound of her breathing. I realized that in the moment and wondered where the sound of my breath was, but the weight of the situation took me by the throat once again and pulled me...

Beer... it's what's for dinner.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

There is a difference between the activity that I called "drinking" as I was growing up in central Ohio, and the version they partake of on the west coast. While west coast beer is more potent (presumably because it's full of all natural vitamins and minerals that are good for me), "drinking" there seems to be...

The Girl did a birth chart for me tonight... I know these things are designed so that anyone can find little pieces of themselves in it if they try, but it seemed to ring true at every point.

Here is the basic overview:

Sun in Aries: A strong personality and an entrepreneurial spirit. ambitious and self-willed, stubborn, obstinate and tenacious. Weaknesses: nervousness, impulsiveness, wastefulness, provoking...

The Good

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Endured my first bass lesson Tuesday night. Apparently, my technique isn't as fucked as I thought it might be. Adam (my instructor) was a bit shocked to find that my style had gone from slappy/funky/metal to a more "relaxed" place. I explained that Portland was a very delicate place and that the hipsters might suffer a coronary induced by...

I think those weeks in Portland probably were real, and your move is probably hard for her too. Maybe she just doesn't know how to act now that things are different, or maybe she's acting detached to protect herself.

My question would be, is there always a knowable "why"?

A why, perhaps, but is it even known by the doer?

Knocking items off the list...

* Signed up for a class on writing screenplays today. It's a 6 week course, starting April 13th. I'm pleased about this.

* I'm signed up with my old instructor at a local music shop for bass lessons. He'll tell me that I'm an idiot and doing everything wrong, and I'll know that nothing ever changes in my small...

I like how you're really trying to stick to the list. That's awesome. I can't exactly say I'd have that same amount of commitment or focus so GOOD FOR YOU!

Screenplay writing, eh? That's fantastic. But the bass lessons/band networking thing sounds awesome too. I really hope you can land a place in a band that will feed that creative part of you. Keep us posted!

The hippies say hi, by the way. wink How's the girl?

It feels like the whole back of my head is going to pop off. This is always the sensation that accompanies confusion and depression. Whenever I find myself blocked and completely unable to take any sort of real course of action, this is what I feel. Like the back of my head is going to pop off. Like there is so much pressure in there,...

I'm tired too. Daylight Savings doesn't help.

When I'm really depressed, I feel electrical current sensations in my head. It's scary

I know exactly how you feel.

Not sure how to fix it, but I hope you feel less "unhinged" soon. smile

pain

The Old Man has lost it. We went to visit him at the hospital tonight and he spoke of gritty sand in his water, looked for a can of soda in the railings of his bed, and answered the pillow like a telephone when an alarm went off to notify the nurse that he needed... something. Don't know what he needed. There were an...

Galaxy,

Is your grandpa getting enough oxygen? I remember when my husband's grandmother was in the hospital, she was completely not herself (confused, shouting) one day and that was the problem. Also visit him all the time, which I'm sure you already do, he will get more attention.

and LOL @ making sparks with your hands. I do stuff like that too (never thought about videotaping the sparks in the throes of passion though, but that would have a lot of artistic merit!).

How old is your cousin's little boy? What makes you think he has autism?
lovebite:
I'm so sorry about your grandfather....we went through the same thing with my grandma, reading your blogs has made me think a lot about her...I know it's hard, but I have a lot of respect for you being there....i remember a lot of the family especially the other grandchildren were absent during the last year of her life and it angered me so, they were all caught up in their own lives and only showed up at the end to fight over who got the antiques and other crap.....I wish I could hug you and be there for you, but even though were far apart in distance, I'm always here........I also feel for you when it comes to your cousin's child, after high school i took some child development/psychology classes and had the privledge to work with a lot of mentally disabled and autistic children, i will keep him in my prayers.....and about your mattress (evil grin), I'd love to........um, maybe someday

Manda

P.S. not the best picture, but I hope you like it anyway....I'm blowing you some kisses, hope you're able to catch them
