The Long Weeked
So the history of good times that seriously hamper my performance at work continues.
Wednesday (I said it was a long weekend) went to see the best punk band in the world. Mclusky were awesome and if you haven't heard them yet you really are missing out. They make punk music like it was meant to be - fast, furious, loud, hard, witty and intelligent.
Then i went clubbing which I really shouldn't have done. I also drank a lot of whisky which i absolutely shouldn't have done.
Thursday I spent the whole day feeling like death warmed up. Threw up twice and work and generally was a complete waste of space.
Went to see Franz Ferdianand in London though so it was ok in the end. FF are completely worthy of all the attention they have been receiveing. 80's retro genius. Slick but still somehow natural it was great and I didn't even have to have a drink (because I couldn't).
Friday I travelled to Wycombe to see a band who cancelled at the last minute. So we went to the pub instead. Well several pubs actually. Talked incessantly, had a fight with Becki, one of my closest friends, made up with her, generally let the drink get the better of us.
Saturday travelled into London with Becki to see her band the Pipettes support Mika Bomb. I am not being biased in saying the the Pipettes were the best thing on although Mika Bomb ran them close.
Drinking and dancing into the early hours with a sizable Brighton posse. Then I staggered back to somebodys house in the East End of London.
Sunday I woke up in the same somebodys house. Turns out he's James. I spent the day with him and his brother Pat touring the East End taking in sites (the Blind Beggar, Brick Lane) and visiting pubs. Used the usual hangover cure here and had a drink.
Its amazing how little of London I know. Its only when I discover whole districts of it that I've never been to that I really notice exactly how huge London is. James and Pat are top people for showing me this and generally letting me tag along with them and their friends. Meeting new people is always a rewarding experience.
Later that evening went to see the 2nd Pipettes show of the weekend. It was acoustic this time and didn't sound as great.
Finally gave into my tiring body and made my way back to Victoria Station and the train home. Bloody thing took the long route and took twice as long as it should have to get me home
Suffice to say I was no good at work today once again. Oh well, what use is a job if you can't go out?
Anyway it wont happen much this month as I've blown all my money for the month. New record time for that I think
