Today seems like as good a day as any for me to start my journal. Apparently its a day for fresh starts but it just seems like a day for sore heads.
New years resolutions
1) Actually do some writing. Keep telling myself Im going to. Never get round to it.
2) Lose some weight. This might involve drinking less, which will involve being stoned more. What a shame.
3) Discover courage and ask the girl I fancy out. The unlikeliest of the 3 even though its the easiest. Oh well.
On New Years Eve went to see British Sea Power at the Garage in London and they were amazing. Cant believe Id ignored them for so long seeing as they come from Brighton. Madness.
The reason I finally went to see them was because my friend Becki sings in a band called The Pipettes and BSP had invited them to play last at 1 in the morning. It was only there second gig but they are totally awesome. They have modelled themselves on the Ronettes-era pop and it sounds like Le Tigre meets Motown. It really is good,
Got in at 8 this morning by which time I had sobered up. I must have been drunk because I ate fried chicken from a very dubious looking fast food place. I cant stand fried chicken, its almost as bad as a kebab. Tasted strangely good though, funny what does when youve drunk too much.
Currently playing with my new tape deck that I got for Christmas, which is a lot of fun. Making mix tapes for people is one of the most satisfying things known to man. The setting of the ground rules is vitally important, no 2 songs from the same band, always start the tape with a great riff. Leaving enough room on the end for the epic closing track is the tricky part though, you dont want to end up with a huge space on the end or miss the end of the track. Especially when that closing track is (Take Back) The Revolution by the Gossip. Can't believe I lived without a tape deck for 3 months.
Current Reading - Dune: The Machine Crusdade by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson.
