Ridiculously brilliant weekend. So many good people, too much booze and far too much junk food. I feel fat, tired and happy.
Friday I travelled up to Glasgow to meet some friends who have moved up there. Got into Glasgow at 3 and had an hour and a half to kill before my mate got out of work. Managed to hold off from drinking until 4 so I went to the pub we were due to meet in to wait for her. A few drinks there with her work mates and then back to hers to drop my bag and get some fish and chips.
After that we headed up to the West End to meet my other mate and go to Uisge Beatha which may be my favourite pub anywhere in the world. Turned up at 8 and realised that England rugby was just started. Decided to pay as little attention to this as possible as I get horribly loud and obnoxious when watching sport and that was probably not a good idea in a Glasgow pub no matter how friendly it is. My only downer here was that Deuchars was off so I had far too much lager and even talked myself into drinking some whisky. It is much nicer when someone who knows what they are talking about gives you a brief overview of what to look for. Still not sure I could drink the stuff often though.
Midnight came and the pub closed
so we headed into the centre to a club which I'd been handed a flyer for. This was randomly excellent and played some cracking tunes. It was a bit empty and I'd plug it here if I could only remember what it was called. I got to do some of my stylish dance moves though
We crawled out of there at 3 feeling very blurry and managed to all get home safely. Don't ask me how.
Saturday dawned far to quickly and I knew that the previous night had not been the best big match preparation. I managed to get to Edinburgh ok though and found City Cafe with the aid of a panic bought A-Z after one wrong turn too many. Then I had to face the drink. Somehow after the first one it seemed that the body had just given up and was prepared to accept what ever I threw at it.
An enormous burger later and I was feeling pretty spritely. Well maybe not spritely but I could stand up and drink at the same time. I think I may even have managed a conversation or two. Sorry if I bored you to tears Vindice.
About 8 we all moved on to another pub. I was just following the crowd by now and didn't catch the name but I do remember it was a bit of a squeeze for all of us. Had a few more beers here but by the time we left the previous nights exertions were beginning to catch up with me.
By the time we moved on to Opium I was on my last legs. I tried JD but I just couldn't get into the groove so I decided to head back to the B&B. Being a smart drunk I decided that I knew a quicker way back. So for the second time in 12 hours I got lost in Edinburgh. That has to be some sort of record.
Got back somehow and slept the sleep of the just. I even managed to get up pretty early for a train back to Glasgow.
Sunday I promised my body that I'd lay off the booze. It seems I even lie to myself a lot.
Anyway I dragged my protesting body into Glasgow centre to watch the rugby and meet some more friends. I realised how I must look when watching a team of mine play badly. The misery on the faces of the Ireland fans is a feeling most sports fans know at some point. I'm just glad it wasn't England, better to be lucky then good. I did manage to drag myself home at a reasonably sensible time and managed to get some pizza back at the mate I was staying withs place. It tasted like manna from heaven.
I got back into Brighton today at 4 and had to be at college for 6. I am now very tired. God knows what I am doing awake. Back to work tomorrow. Deep joy.

I am still offering my thanks to various dieties for blessing me with sufficient foresight to plan nothing whatsoever on monday. still a hard-going nothing whatsoever, mind you.
I don't think any of us know what the second pub was called. Damnit. But Opium was lovely, sorry you couldn't stay for longer.
