So hello there. Did you miss me
Where do I begin?! A month has allmost past, 3 weeks of which I spent in the most fantastic country I have ever been to. I like to travel and have done quite a bit, USA, Cuba, Maldives, Kanary Islands and all over Europe. But nowhere ever grabbed me by the guts like this place did. I literally cried in the airoplane on the way home. Yes I was uncomfortable, the food was lousy and it was a 12 hour flight, 2 hours longer than the way there, obviously due to the earths turning (for you non flyers!). And yess it sucks going home to a job you dislike and the cold/ wet weather of amsterdam. But they were not my reasons for sobbing all over my bf's jumper.I really was just sad to leave that place. I felt so at home. It felt right. Thailand. I am saving up as we speak to go back a.s.a.p. Hopefully before 2007 is over I will be on the way back over there, at least a month this time though. And more traveling.
So...in a nut shell what did we do!
We took off here 12:00 pm local time with the taiwanese airlines EVA. We were heading for a 10 hour flight. But I didn't care, I was so excited. I whatched the 4 online B-films. Ate the dinners, drank the free drinks and before we knew it we were landing in bangkok. Changed my watch from 22:00 to 04:00 lokal time and stepped out of the plane into the delicious humid tropical heat. Don't you just love it?
We quickly made our way to bangkokairways to see if there were any seats left on the flights to koh samui. At 06:30 we were on a plane again heading south. There we got the boat to Koh pa ngan. Which was another hour. By this time it was 10 am local time but we were feeling like it was 4 am and in that heat we were starting to get a little tired. So after reaching Had rin on koh pa ngan, we found the first room we could and crashed for 2 hours.
We planned on finding a better bungalow and resort the next day when we were rested. Turns out, we never left that bungalow for 9 days. The first 2 days we looked for something better, but we allready had the best
and that for about $4 a night.
The first 3 days we just slept, on the beach ofcourse. Under a palmtree. We were so tired, and really needed to recoupe.
After a few days we started to explore. Rented a scooter, I drove quite a lot over the island, up the steep hills was fine, down the hills was a different story
haha, remember Amsterdam = FLAT!!! We rented jetski's. THEY TOTALLY ROCK
I turned into a jetskifreak! We climbed hills, waterfalls. I learned how to swing fire poys, really psi-trance hippy like, I know, but so much fun
I did it without the fire...i am still learning, but I'm getting better and I am aiming to awe in the not to distant future
We went to a jungle experience psy-trance halfmoon party. Lot's of fun, that was. In the middle of the jungle, thousands of party people, great food, great music, everyone happy-yay for the 60's/70's
The funniest thing about koh pa ngan were the amount of doggies. hundreds of stray doggies. Little ones, like the thai themselves
They were stray, but healthy and so friendly. Everyday you could "adopt" a new dog. They would follow you around, try and sit in your shade. Very often we would find a dog on our porch in the morning. And they would sleep anywhere. In the middle of the road even, cars and motorbikes would just drive around them and they would just not be botherd. Completely relaxed. You would think all these stray dogs would fight, but no, never. Must be budhist!
The last 3 days we spent in Bangkok. I wasn't so keen on the place. Very dirty. Some great temples though that you have to see and great markets too. Hundreds, huge and great for very cheap shopping. I bought too much
So here are some pics, I won't bore you with endless white beaches. I shall post some more though tomorrow! . Enjoy
