i'm sure that the collection of mishaps grouped together under the name 2003 has ceded painlessly, and 2004 will offer the sweetness and fulfillment that seem to come for me only in the even-numbered years. here's a bit of slapdash doggerel for this very happy new year.

here's a story you have seen
i know you know the fedaykin
that's deckwreck dave, and mike, and me
back in august just us three
decided, "hell, we all love DUNE,
let's get crysknives and get them soon!"
so that we did and have and heard
a thousand voices snicker "nerd!"
we ignore them, drink and fight,
and while away the Georgia night
with fists, tequila, a well-loved song
a rowdy army, just three strong,
and last night, through crowds we'd cleave
to find our party for the new year's eve,
up on a rooftop, our entourage lost,
we scramble at countdown time's cost
to figure out a few seconds late
that midnight had arrived in our drunken state
so a kiss was passed between the three
that being from deckwreck and mike to me
glad for the bitch 2003 to meet her end,
so rejoiced we in the eternal friend.
"fuck the bitches," so we scream,
"long live the fucking fedaykin!"
