so for the composition portion of my exam for this semester of Russian, i was able to choose from a number of topics, one of them being "My Best Friend," my final choice. after only four months of Russian, it's really difficult to capture the intricacies of human relations, the endless struggles, the act of being a caryatid for the other. but i can talk about where he lives, what he likes, and how we met. so, without further ado, here is the English translation of my composition, an ode to my most beloved deckwreck.

"my best friend is a rockstar and a scholar. his name is David; i call him 'deckwreck.' he lives in Atlanta, Georgia. we met in high school in Atlanta four years ago. David goes to Georgia State University. he is studying history and journalism there. David is twenty years old. he is a nice and clever person. i like deckwreck because we always go to the cafe at night and talk about life, love, and tattoos. we like to go to concerts, drink tequila, fight, dance, and make fun of our friends together. we talk about everything and laugh a lot. David likes to read, draw tattoos, and listen to rock and roll. i have many friends, but i have only a few good friends. to me, a friend is always ready to go to the Waffle House, talk, cry, and love. deckwreck is a true friend."
