okay. so this whole "taking a break" thing isn't really working out when one SG member calls one up to talk about the rumpus on the boards and another demands that one deposit one's proverbial two cents into a good thread. so maybe i'll just resolve to spend less time here, and to be much more liberal dispensing my wisdom and my wrath so that not one iota gets subverted.

Reading the south-bashing thread it just clicked for me that your originally from the South.
I'll have to beg you for some barbecue recipes and other tips on Southern cookery.
I went all gooey in the knees today because they've reissued all these previously killer to find Yellow Magic Orchestra albums.. and I bought one. This Japanese group (as you may well know) are second only to Kraftwerk in their influence on electronic music. I'm still rockin' out to some Magma cd I found a few weeks ago.. today I splurged (or rather just didn't purchase fabulous socks and towels like I was going to) and also bought Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks".
Badminton makes my soul grow stronger. Indeedy.
