para adorarte con esa locura
que slo tiene el amor de mi tierra
a dear friend of mine has expounded a theory over the years i have known him that his life is cyclical, that the ebb and flow of general goodness in his existence corresponds to the World Cup, so that 1998, for example, was a banner year, while those in which the game was not played on such a stage pale in comparison. i do not know if he still subscribes to this teleology.
however, in my shower this morning, it struck me that i was born at the perfect time in the four-year cycle. for i started high school in 1998 and graduated in 2002, another Cup year. in 2002, i started college, and it is exceedingly likely that i will graduate in 2006, when it will be in Germany. regardless of whether or not my life's goodness comes in cycles intertwined with the hurrahs of ftbol, i know exactly what my graduation present to myself is going to be.
now all i can hope for is that my boys make it in. that would be the best gift i could possibly ask for. well, that, and a travel partner who, like i, got up at ungodly hours of the morning to watch the Japan/Korea games last year.
i think 2006 will be a very good year.

Now only the SECOND most violent country on Earth! Yep, we let South Africa take over for a few years hasta que los EE.UU invade con todo su poder imperialista.
Until then, maybe just once we can beat los yankis en footbol.
I saw Colombia not lost to Germany in Italy, 1990. That was the ONLY game of the World Cup that year that Germany didn't win.
Take THAT you fascists! Well okay, EX-fascists.... stop bugging me about it!
