Portland is my home. I moved away but eventually came back. You can make roots whereever you are but it takes time. I have to agree with you that those ties with the friends you grew up with can be really strong. But you know the old saying. You can never go home again. You may go back but it will not likely be what you hold in your mind.... and you may just find that when you get there that you will miss our fair city of Portland.
