So, I moved into my new house last week (finally!) and its needed a bunch of little things. One of the biggest of which, I noticed, was the gas shutoff valve at the meter. It appears some ham-fisted idiot broke the knob off at the valve, leaving the sealing integrity of the valve intact but the closure of the unit, impossible. So, I called the Gas Company on Wednesday and they said they would send a repairman out ASAP. I came home that night to notice my headlights shining on a new valve, meter, and regulator that had been installed. Everything was going good so far! I woke up the next morning, hoppped in the shower, and...YIKES! The water was cold because they hadn't turned the gas back on and so the water heater was full of cold water.
No big deal, I'll just go outside and turn the gas back on, light the pilot, and we'll be in business. Wrong! They had installed a pin-type Highfield lock on the valve so it couldn't be turned back on. So I call the bastards back and they tell me it's only a safety precaution and they'll send someone out right away to turn it back on. It's been 3 days since now and I'm still without hot water!!!
