Dammit all. Someone move to Georgia who speaks Japanese and study with me.
This whole "nobody speaks Japanese" thing here makes study really difficult. Sure, there are other people in my class but they all live aaaaaall over the state. Sigh.
Anyways, enough school talk, let's rant.
I really don't like the sets on the site that attempt to recreate old pinup feels.
They seem to have really come to light during the World Wars and at the time they were risque, edgy, exciting. Now when I see people attempting the same, the main thing they are missing is the spirit of it all.
I mean, I understand that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery but one thing people forget is that it is also the most boring.
I guess I shouldn't be picking only on the pinup sets, there are a lot of sets on here that would be barely tolerable if it weren't for boobs and tattoos. Many times I have looked at sets and the girls look bored or it's a theme that has been done 1,000 times and wasn't interesting the first 999.
Now don't get me wrong, there are some amazing sets and some incredible photographers on the site. I'm not going to play favorites and give names, I don't feel like enough people adore me yet that I could get away with it and not hurt feelings but the sets are there.
Sets need color OR a blatant monochrome feel. It should never look like one was intended but another came from it. Contrast is also a must but that somewhat goes along with the feel of the color.
Lastly, always try to look like you enjoy what you're doing. It doesn't even have to be a smile, just fit the mood of the photographs and put your soul into it. Otherwise it's just another naked photograph on the internet that nobody will remember. Love the work and viewers will love it in return.
Oh well, enough of me for the night. Off to SG chat and then sleep.
