Cold in the office today!
All the air conditioners are on blowing nice cold air down onto the hardworking computers. Nice if you're a computer, not nice if you're a mammal!
I went for a jog this morning. It was beautiful! the sky was dark blue and there was a big wind blowing that made all the shadowy trees bend and sway like they had their own music to dance to. Spooky! but not as cold as I was expecting.
Did some kung fu in the park and despite my frustrations wiht technique etc, I felt at peace. Wasn't game to stand still for long enough to run through sil lum tao though, but I did lots of pushups and even went all Rocky and did chinups on the crossbar for the swings in the kids playground.
Discovered today that I am 98% chimpanze and 97% ape. (chimpanze's are only 97% ape) which means they are more like us that like apes!
I find myself wondering what percentage ferret I am.
It's all from a very excellent book that I am reading called Genome by Matt Ridley. Its fascinating! If only he'd been my genetics lecturer I would have got much better marks in 1st year biology (and might even know what percentage ferret I am)
Then again if I had spent more time studying and less in the pub ...
Most exciting! a good friend of mine (albeit one who I haven't seen in three dimensions for far too long) is starting her first full time professional job. As a research scientist! In Norway!!!!! Super exciting! I hope everything works out for you possum!
I've never been to Norway, but it sounds beautiful! Like it would be covered in snow with lots of mountaneous pine forests, with deer and people who wear those hats with ear flaps! and frozen lakes! As you can tell I know absolutely nothing about Norway, but I have a very good excuse to visit now. Now all I need is loads of money! Seriously though it sounds incredible, and the job sounds amazing. Its so cool that she's finally getting the recognition she deserves! Go Till!
