Sometimes the time to go do something is now.
And if you don't go now then you don't get to go.
"Hey Dad, you wanna go for a walk when you're done returning the tools to the shed?"
"Sure."
"Cool, let me get my shoes."
I go and put my shoes on and wait for him to show back up... a good 10 minutes goes by. Then I go looking for him.
He's outside having started two more projects and nonchalantly asks me if I'm ready for the walk and if I want some of the gas that he's putting in the car.
"no."
I come back in the house and take back off my shoes and hop on this thing. Another ten minutes go by. He comes in and asks if I'm ready for the walk. I told him I'm not and that I was ready ten minutes ago.
This is quite typical of our interactions. Any wonder why we don't get along too well?
(hint: If you ever see me with shoes on and there's no snow or something of that sort on the ground, it means I'm ready to go. I hate shoes.)
what I want
(the journey got postponed for a short while... I"m battling off a cold/cough of some sort and a fever... yuck)

I am almost the reverse regarding shoes. I wear them everywhere but not in the house to often. Even if I am taking the garbage out, shoes and socks always. And socks always with shoes...always...
I should send you some O.J and tea to help get you on your way.
