"Blowdown" is an apt term to refer to what happens when fierce winds meet mighty trees — and the trees lose the battle. The word originated with outdoorsmen about 100 years ago, and since then it has been used to describe the act of blowing down the trees, or the wind that does the blowing, or the trees that get knocked over from the force of the wind. It is also occasionally used for the process of blowing off gas or steam, or for the apparatus used for such a process. The toppling of a tree by the wind, as well as the tree that has fallen from the force, can also be called a "windfall."
*Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
My grandparents used to have a 40 year old avacado tree in their back yard that produced two kinds of avacados. In the late summer of '92 a level 5 hurricane came through miami florida and blew it over onto the house. we had to cut the tree upinto little pieces but we pulled the roots back over onto the dirt. They replanted and a new tree grew out of the old stub... I miss them and that house. The dumb fig tree that stood in the back yard, the swimming pool that always made my eyes get the clorine sting, the showers in the back yard as kids. Poppie's work shop and the grape vines. The plants that would stain your clothes if the syrum got on you, the hibiscus out front, reds and yellows. I miss the warm air and the humidity. I miss seeing them and bein able to speak with them.
This move to cali has been very hard and it's getting harder. I'm not sure how to make it easier. Anything I thought it would be, it's not. My heart is slowly breaking more so than it was already.
My roomie and I got into a major fight last night. It started over my bike and came to emcompass everything. There were alot of the unhealthy "you" statements thown in addiiton to anger and shutting down. It's not her fault, it's not my fault. it's been brewing for a while. It was bad we let it get so big though.
*****
Honestly I don't know how to fix any of it. There's no money back garentee, and no warrenty either. I'm nothing more than a little purple dinosaur right?
