It's long, but amazing.

I have reached a time in my life where there is much reflection. There are too many moments and people that have gone by unrecognized, unappreciated and too many things unsaid. There are many moments that have passed, people that have come and gone in my life that I still think about almost daily. These moments passed, these people left, and I never told them that they would forever be written into my book of life. I never let them know that they had made an impact in my life. They have no idea that I speak about them...that I am reminded of them when I hear a song...I think of them when I pass the place where we met...where we ate lunch... or where I last saw them. They don't know that when I think of them they bring a smile to my face. I have decided that I am going to change this. So here goes...
My dear taxi man...I am writing this to tell you what an impact you have made in my life. You have been permanently written into my book of life. You have made a difference to me and you probably do not realize how important you are to many people, everyday. Although you may drive many people each day, some of those people have only ridden in a taxi once or twice in their lives. You may not remember them, but they will forever remember you.
My sweet taxi man...your timing could not have been any better. You came along and noticed me at the exact moment that I needed to be noticed. I can only hope that I helped you too in some small way. You helped me by giving me a ride...I helped you by being your fare. I also want you to know that not only do I appreciate you, but I also noticed you. When I looked into your eyes, I could see your imagination, your dreams and desires, your intelligence, your life and your pain.
Just as you may share memories or think about someone, someone is sharing memories or thinking about you too. We are all in somebody’s photo album that we did not know, or maybe we did not notice that they had taken our picture. We are all in somebody’s story that they tell, just as they are in ours. Some of us are in the background of photos, but some of us were important enough for them to not only take our picture but to keep it in a special place with other special pictures.
My “MC” taxi man...I wish I had a million dollars, because if I did, I would have given it to you that day, so that I would have made it into your book of life.
Do not forget, that you are a very special person. What you share with the world is important, no matter how small of a thing you think it is. A man playing a guitar in a coffee shop may think that he is unimportant, but he is making memories in the lives of those people who are sitting there drinking their coffee. When a band is playing at a club, they are sharing their gift and becoming a permanent memory in some of those people’s books of life. I know there are mean, shallow people in the world who walk around with blinders. I know that there are people who do not see the great people that may be sitting right next to them, singing them a song or giving them a ride in a taxi. I am sorry for them. These lost people could be standing on a beautiful mountain in the middle of a meadow of beautiful wild flowers and only think about how are they going to get to where they are going from there or how the wind is messing up their hair...blah, blah, blah. I thank god that things have happened to me in my life that have made me different from them. I notice it all. I lay on the mountain in the meadow of flowers everyday and enjoy.
My dear, sweet taxi man...please do not give up on your dreams. You are a special person...you are important...you are making a difference...you mean something to me. I am going to watch for you...hoping our paths will cross in the future. Until then, keep smiling that wonderful smile of yours and watch for that fare that you may pick up that will be noticing you too.
You were truly on that day...sweet like candy to my soul...Thank you...thank you...thank you...my wonderful taxi man for being you
--Forever your fair haired fare and new friend
