computer issues...
So my computer, when it turns on switches to DOS mode and tells me that it cannot find win.com the one program to kickstart windows as an operating system... it says that the file is corrupted or missing... I know DOS, but not enough to go find it. Any ideas? (I can't afford a computer repair guy)

Thus far it has always worked.
I asked a buddy who told me it cannot possibly be a hardware problem, for various esoteric reasons, so at worst you might have to format your drive and start over.
My old best friends older brother used to have a sticker that said: Friends don't let friends do DOS. He was an apple fan...sucks for him...well, back then anyway...Apple is FINALLY coming around...I think.
Edited to say that if you know DOS enough, you should be able to start your PC up in safemode and try to isolate the corrupted file, and maybe just be able to find a restore point and fix it that way...
