Thanks to everyone who asked to read the pilot. I sincerely hope that you enjoy it. If not, I apologize. I've decided to contact my only real connection in the entertainment industry and see if there's anything he could help me with regarding a final, improved version of the script.

Today is Grey Tuesday - a unified online protest against EMI for censoring DJ Dangermouse's...

I'm beginning to question my abilities as an artist and a writer. I'm sure all people who have a talent goes through something similar. I feel as though I've had too much positive support and not enough criticism, because when it comes right down to it -- I never deliver the goods.

I didn't even get into the quarter-finals for a TV script competition. After...

By all means, send it my way. Unfortunately, right now, I seem to be a better "script doctor" than writer. Which is frustrating from my perspective, but at least I can use my critical talents to help a friend. smile

Who knows? Somethings just don't stick. You never know what might sell. And heck, other times it's all about timing. I've got a notebook filled with rejections. Little bit frustrating...

dude, your talent definitely shines. those strips are excellent smile

Ah, SG Burlesque.love I got there a little early with my friend Mariah, who I hadn't seen in a while, only to find out she hadn't bought a ticket after the show sold out. My roommate and a co-worker joined me at the last minute, we had a pretty good spot right up against the stage.

After all the waiting (which makes me grumpy...

She's calling you a racist? SHE sounds like the one with the guilty conscience. Maybe you should draw a finger pointing at her... or maybe the middle finger.

I missed the SG Texas Burlesque. frown I really wanted to go, and I completely confused the days. Sucks.
hastwothumbs:
Maybe interpreting drawings of fingers is an established psychological exam, like ink blots.

Seated comfortably in my ass nook on the couch, after a good day's work, I'm ready for a little mindless entertainment so I flip on HBO On Demand and select to watch the episode of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' I missed last night. I put up my unshod feet and press play.

Something darts across the floor.

Under the couch.

I get up, slap on some...

Hey! That pic with the creature is still there, just buried in my Pics section...

What's new with you?

Me thinks its time to buy a cat, or one of those little ratcatcher pistols with the laser sight. Then if no mice turn up pop down to the pet shop and buy your own, hours of fun taking pot shots around your living room.

Well, I've finally gotten around to painting my bedroom/studio. Exactly one year to the day of my move to New York City.

It's a shade of green called 'Buckingham Gardens' on three walls, with a checkerboard feature on the back wall using 'Buckingham Gardens' and its lighter and darker tones ('Kiwi' and 'Courtyard Green' respectively). Now when you walk through the door to my apartment...

Back in NYC, playing catch-up with work and trying to finish up the pages for david's Antigone Prologue.

I hope that everyone had a good holiday. Mine was better than I could've hoped. It was great to see my family for an extended period of time. It seems as though the older I get, the more I appreciate having them around. We hopped...

Yeah, you're right about the animation. I remember things like Robotech, and Akira.

And the amazing thing about that documentary was that it also talked about all of the other cities in Japan that were bombed, and compared them to sizes of American cities. So it would say things like:

47% of Cleaveland destroyed.

And it goes on and on, and it is shocking, absolutely shocking.

As for your dilemma...I read this a few days ago, but did not comment. I have a long line of relationships I've fucked up in one way or another, so I abstain from giving advice about women, until I know what the hell I'm talking about. smile
calvinbrookfield:
Great new artwork added. And once again, thanks for working on the Antigone project. I'm really excited to see how it looks.

I agree. Chinese food doesn't get that bad. Maybe tai food, but not chinese. I hope it all works out.

I went to dinner with some SGNY and SGPhilly folks. I don't think I left much of a negative impression, then again, I'm not sure I left an impression at all. I have my shyness to thank for that -- and the fact I didn't get to attend the holiday party afterward (early morning flight).

Regardless, everyone was rather nice. Maybe next time I attend...

Just got back from my company's Holiday shindig. Drank a bit, danced a bit, ate a good meal on the company dime.

What vexes me, though, is that I heard my good friend's girlfriend (someone who I went to high school with and only recently fell out of a close friendship with) tell a co-worker that she was "using [him] for the sex. Which is...

what makes it worse by ten-fold is that he's my best friend... and I don't want to make it seem like I'm just out to have him leave her.
razzell:
I'd probably just leave it alone. He'll figure it out eventually on his own.If you say something, you run the risk of making trouble for yourself. He'll ask her about it.She'll deny it. Afterwards,he may question why you told him about it.He may even think you have an alterior motive. Trust me,just pretend you never heard it.Besides, most men don't mind being used for sex.
By the way, congrats on getting the Christmas shopping done early. biggrin

I just got back from seeing Tim Burton's latest, 'Big Fish.' I've got to say, I was excited by the prospect of Burton retuning to his creative roots, but was blown away by how well he blended quirky comedy with a heartwarming story. It was above and beyond what I thought he was capable of, even if it wasn't as outlandish or darkly bizarre as...

I saw this, but will not ruin it for anyone who hasn't. It is definitely worth seeing. Especially given what I wrote about Burton above. It's an interesting direction for him to go.

you took the words right out of my mouth with your last paragraph.

every time is see on of those people i desperately want to call attention to their perceived superiority. but in the end i feel it's better to let them alone to pontificate among their own group.

i guess i just hope that if they are ignored enough perhaps they'll just disappear.

I think the apartment above me is cursed. Or perhaps I am.

I wake up each morning to a mediocre Opera singer, belting things like: "How are you to-daaaaaay?" shocked

The apartment changes hands every few months. Last time it was a fellow who played guitar at 3am. Before him was a guy who practiced his french horn, but only during any particularly interesting TV show...

Yeah, compliment it was. I actually envy people who can draw. If I was able to illustrate my scripts, I wouldn't be bothering with movies! I would just do cartoons. I kind of shoot them like cartoons anyhow.

And if you haven't read cerebus, do. One of the best comics EVER.

Hey, what's up, man.

I saw you post on the "What you do for a living" thread and so i came on over and thought i would itroduce myself and check out your pics to see if you had any of your own artwork up. I'd like to say how good your stuff is (not that my opinion counts for shit or anything). Really, really good. It's hard to get a handle on and got a cool and creepy vibe. I likes.

I myself hope to one day produce comics of my own creation featuring my characters and stories. Maybe i'll luck out eventually and find someone locally with as much talent as you have since i'm an untaught, unschooled, hack with superhero dreams. Until then i'll just keep wishing i was Kevin Smith.

A good friend of mine from Maine and I put together a book of gothic children's poetry (he did the poetry, I did the illustrations) and after a few rejections and one glowing review from the fellow who used to edit Shel Silverstein's work, he seems prepared to self publish. Now I've got to dredge up all those dusty old illustrations and figure out if...

Go for it, I know kids love that kind of stuff and with the illustrations it will look great. Will have to get a copy(signed of course) when its published.
Yeah, I collect Enchantica, have 12 at the moment and the collection is still growing. Have a good deal with the local shop that sells it. I get 20% off and can pay in installments whenever I like. Starting to run out of room though, gonna have to get another cabinet.
